Dan Leaves Totaal Desperate

Totaalvoetbal paid the price for some slack defending in injury-time as Yorkshires Amateurs took a point away from their clash at Metelo Park.

A goal from Pierre van Diemen after 19 minutes looked to have set Totaal on the way to three home points as they looked to recover from their defeat to Real Madrid.

Indeed, with most of the play with Totaal and some good chances also falling their way it would seem the Dutch side would add to their lead.

However, some profligate finishing and a stoic defensive display by the Amateurs side kept the match finely balanced.

So, with a feeling of inevitability among the home fans the visitors would get their solitary chance of the game. And how they made it count. A fine cross by Gabriel Mohan was confidently headed home by captain Derek Naples to earn Amateurs a fine point.

Robin Meeblind met the media with a smile after the game:
‘We haven’t done much wrong to be fair,’ began the coach.

‘Apart from put the ball in the net. You know at this level you pay the price for missing chances and today we have.

‘Credit to Dan and his side. They’ll be happy with the point and they earned it. As for us, well we’re playing alright and we’ll look to bounce back.’
