Diego Spurs EspAda to 3 Points

EspAda kept their lead at the top of Division Three by marching to a 4-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur. Having hit the top a few games ago, EspAda haven’t looked back with consecutive wins and their run wasn’t to stop there. Patric Torebring would waste an early headed chance and would then suffer further misfortune as his chip struck the bar. However, Diego Maradona would curl them into the lead on 26 minutes before Andreas Sommer saw a header saved by Gomes. Maradona would go close to making it 2-0 before the break but his shot went over and they had to settle for a slender goal advantage. This didn’t dent their confidence, though, and Sommer had an early free-kick brush a post. A period of quiet followed but Tottenham’s day got worse when Wilson Palacios was sent-off for arguing and Sommer capitalised by making it 2-0 moments later. EspAda then struck again with Torebring placing home an accurate effort before Sommer rifled a free-kick over. The last word would be left to Maradona who added his second of the day by rounding Gomes before slotting home. Crismorena’s side have nearly clinched promotion but having hit the heights of first they will be looking to clinch the title as well. Ocs will be hoping his side can avoid the wooden spoon at the end of the season but their next match looks tough as they travel to Morley.

Morley themselves would keep the pressure on EspAda with a comprehensive 6-0 win against St Omer. Morley were hoping to continue their recovery from a mini-blip a few games ago to maintain hope of winning a first ever league title. Maart Kuiper gave them the perfect start by blasting home from distance before Helder Velez side-footed straight at Rain. Zacharias Ashe would force Rain into another fine save after a super strike from range but they would have their second goal shortly afterwards as Mitchell Pennock lobbed home from inside the area. Ashe would steer a shot wide on 25 minutes before Omer wasted a chance to get back into the game with Cony Tottee having a penalty saved. Morley would capitalise with Ashe producing a diving header out of the top drawer to make it 3-0 before Kuiper placed home a header of his own on 34 minutes. A penalty allowed them to make it 5-0 before the break as Florian Arnautu comfortably blasted home and Angres Kafka might have added another but saw his header saved. The second-half proved much quieter although Sankharib Rafou did have a goal chalked off for the visitors due to offside on 50 minutes. Morley would have the final say, though, as Arnautu lobbed home a header in injury-time to put the seal on a 6-0 victory. Leeg21 was already looking ahead to making ‘it three wins on the bounce against Tottenham’ as they look to win the title. CT recently explained that he is ‘just hoping that (he) can get all of (his) young players up to the 100% required’ and that will remain the plan for the remaining few fixtures.

Crimson Tigers maintained their grip on third with a keenly-fought 2-1 success at Alsancak. Going into the game on the back of five straight wins the Tigers were in fine form but they needed to be to hold off a competitive home side. The Tigers began by seeing Dan Ruffer head wide before they did take the lead on 17 minutes courtesy of a Miroslav Burkhart penalty. However, this lead would be short-lived as Rory Burston delivered from the spot for the hosts to level matters. Kendrick Osmond tried to restore the lead for Crimson but saw a header blocked by Frost before Andrew Taylor had a free-kick saved at the other end. Mark Noble would then waste an opportunity for the hosts before the break by blasting a shot wide and the sides would go in level. The second-half began with Taylor putting another free-kick just wide before the Tigers assumed control once more with Ruffer chipping home to make it 2-1. Burkhart would put a chip just over as they attempted to seal the win and they would then come under a little bit of late pressure. Taylor would see another free-kick miss the target before Noble steered a shot well-wide as Alsancak came up short. Paul declared himself ‘happy, happy, happy’ with the win before explaining that ‘any kind of result against Anime on Friday should guarantee promotion.’ Wienersnitzel will be more concerned with his player’s averages before the all-important season update kicks in.

Anime kept their hopes of promotion alive with a comfortable 4-0 success against Cressex. Coming off a defeat last time out, Anime knew they couldn’t afford any more if they were to maintain their chance of an impressive promotion. In truth, it never looked in doubt with Naru Narusegawa striking the woodwork early with a fine looping header. They would take the lead on three minutes, though, as Kugen Tenko flicked home an accurate header and only four minutes later the same player chipped home a second goal. Johnny Douglas would strike a post as they looked for more goals and a diving header by Colin Crouch needed saving by Martinzon. The second-half saw more Anime pressure with Sonsaku Hakufu chipping just over before Crouch made it 3-0 with a stinging strike from distance. Tenko saw a chip turned over before Douglas curled home a powerful shot on 66 minutes to make it 4-0. A free-kick saw Tenko shoot just over while Douglas mishit his shot terribly when well-placed. Cressex’s sole effort came courtesy of Tomas Tiribocchi but he shot well-over and they ended up comfortably beaten. Joshy will be pleased with the win despite recently admitting he ‘highly expects the top 3 clubs to be promoted.’ Villan_RAS will be hoping for a strong end to the season before embarking on an important silly season.

AFC Boo Boys moved up to fifth with a 2-1 home success against Rolling Thunder. With both sides coming into the contest on the back of defeats they were looking for an improvement in fortune in this clash. A penalty gave Boo Boys the ideal start with Michal Handzus stroking home coolly to put them in front. Jovan Gagic, though, would volley in a spectacular equaliser just five minutes later as the game exploded into life. Thunder would then see Erland Hangeland waste a lobbed chance and they would find themselves behind for a second time as Ross Scott powered in a thumping strike from distance. The second-half would only see a chance for either side; Ludo Cappellacci hitting wide for the visitors before Derek Armstrong ballooned a header over at the other end. However, the home side wouldn’t be disappointed by this missed chance as they held on for three points. Skoolyou will be wanting as positive a finish to the season as possible to put them in good spirits ahead of next term. Vehusheia will be stressing the important to his players of maintaining good form ahead of the update which will, hopefully, put them in a stronger position ahead of the new campaign.

In the other game of the day Reggae Reggae Sauce drew 1-1 with Pink Bus Riders FC at Sauce Bottle Arena. With both sides at the wrong end of the table a classic wasn’t expected with Sauce putting out the familiar no-subs line-up. The visitors had the first chance with Eliott Malloy striking a post with a powerful strike. They would enjoy more luck from their next effort, though, as Fabrizio Gualtieri met a cross with a diving header to put them 1-0 ahead. The second-half would see PBS continue to see more of the chances but they would be hit by a sucker-punch. A free-kick on 46 minutes saw Stephane Aoudou hit a post for PBS before Gualtieri put a shot over the bar. Sauce would then strike from their only chance as Kevin Campbell toe-poked home in amongst some shoddy defending. Still, PBS had the chance to win the game but Costas Abadiotakis fluffed his lines and the game finished level. However, upon his arrival in the league Killie_gers had explained he doesn’t ‘give a toss about football, my team or results’ so this failure to pick up three points shouldn’t unduly worry him. A similar reaction is likely to be found at Xpertelevener’s office as he looks forward to next season in the hope he will remember to pick a team and subs.
