Gooners showed why they were title contender until the last round versus Abu Dhabi by beating Charming 3 - 0 in the return fixture. Many fans have called for FMR's head after seemingly throwing away victory against Dhabi, this result will have gone along way to quietening the unrest in his camp. The manager has been quoted as saying the loss was for the best and that chasing the title would have afftected the future of the club significantly. Many of Gooners players are borderline in their development this season and the manager would rather keep pace in developing his team than keeping pace in the promotion/title race.
That said it would seem they are the team most likely to have a say in the outcome of said race. Gooners have not given up all hope of holding on to third but the coach has also admitted that Dream Team are best prepared for the home stretch. Giving the reason that their youth are already developed and probably add more to the team rather than hold them back.
The sale of Adams was needed to stabilize his teams his teams development and the player left on good terms, FMR wished him all the best at Pop Punk and thanked him for the fantastic season he had at Gooners. FMR has also said that his players futures must come before any ambitions of his own and that by not doing so, could seriously damage the clubs ability to keep pace with their rivals. This suggests the competetive boss was unable to sell Adams whilst any chance of silverware was still up for grabs and maybe needed the decision to be made for him, if this was the case then obviously the sooner the loss happened the better and his players will reap the rewards of a longer intensive training schedule.
Can Gooners hold onto third place? and can FMR get the players devopment back on track and see a good change report?, it certainly is going to be an interesting end to the season!
