Crimson produced the shock result in Division Three by handing Morley their first defeat at Hoppitop. With Morley still coasting in first, most would have expected another victory for the title chasers but Crimson, once again, played above their level to record a brilliant triumph. Crimson began positively with Marcelo Argello having a free-kick effort go off-target while Morley’s response was a side-footed strike by Helder Velez which was saved. Kendrick Osmond nearly put the Tigers in front on nine minutes but his effort hit the woodwork before Florian Arnautu hit a post at the other end from a header. Dante Allegri’s bicycle effort would go over for the hosts as the game remained open and the first goal would duly arrive as Miroslav Burkhart netted a penalty on 31 minutes. Sid Curtis would then put a lob over as confidence flowed through the home camp and Argello drilled home a free-kick to make it 2-0. Argello would see a further free-kick held by Gaughan but Crimson would go in happy. They would begin the second 45 well also with Kendrick Osmond shooting just wide before Burkhart did make it 3-0 with a neat shot in the area. Burkhart would waste a headed opportunity shortly afterwards before Argello put another set-piece into the arms of Gaughan. The ‘keeper would also save from a Burkhart header before Morley looked to fight back. Arnautu had a steered shot saved and Burkhart might have put the game out of reach but his shot never troubled. Morley would get a goal back as a flick header by Zacharias Ashe went into the bottom corner and Vivien Kwekeu might have made a game of it but his half-volley was saved and Morley were beaten. Paul admitted that he ‘really didn’t expect a win today’ before adding it ‘bodes well for the future.’ Leeg21 will be expecting his side to return to form at Boo Boys on Tuesday in what will be a true test of their character.
EspAda made sure they capitalised on this slip-up by recording a 3-1 away victory at Rolling Thunder. With EspAda putting together an impressive campaign they travelled in confident mood and wouldn’t disappoint their fans. Zihni Demiray gave them an idea start by shooting home following a corner on 18 minutes and two minutes later Patric Torebring should have made it better for EspAda but his penalty was easily saved by Jorquera. Geoffrey Stiles would make it 2-0 on 25 minutes, though, as he powered in a header to leave the home side stunned and they would take this lead into the break. The second-half would be a more level contest but EspAda still had the first chance with Andreas Sommer narrowly putting a free-kick wide. Diego Maradona would give the side more breathing space, though, as he looped in a fine header moments later to give Thunder a mountainous task. Thunder would rally to their credit and Jovan Gagic hit a shot just over while Erland Hangeland forced Kerrigan into a save from a flicked header. Francois Rouland would pull a goal back with a cute lob following a breakaway move but it wouldn’t threaten to derail EspAda. Maradona might have added another late on but his powerful strike was saved. However, a 3-1 win and a defeat for Morley meant a perfect day for Crismorena whose side now sit just a point behind first. Vehusheia’s side look like they will be settling for mid-table mediocrity unless they put together a staggering run over the second-half of the season.
Alsancak slipped further behind the leading three sides as they were defeated 2-1 at Anime. With the Allstars just three points behind Alsancak going into the contest they were looking to bring themselves level and also move closer to the top three. Anime began positively and Sonsaku Hakufu powered in a header to give them a lead on three minutes. Alsancak looked to respond but Andrew Taylor’s free-kick went well-wide. Colin Crouch would head wide for the hosts before Cirkovic needed to tip a lob from Chobits Chii over the bar as the home side continued to press. Johnny Douglas would see a free-kick saved before the break as Anime went in fully in control. Alsancak would improve after the interval and Taylor’s second free-kick of the game was much better, forcing Sapienza into a fine save. Douglas would also force a save at the other end from a set-piece as the game retained an open feel. Gabriel Agbonlahor would power a shot wide for the visitors but they would level as Taylor thumped home a free-kick on 58 minutes. Douglas would force Cirkovic into a save as Anime looked to regain the lead but they also had to be thankful as Agbonlahor volleyed wide at the other end. Anime were given a boost on 80 minutes as Danny Rose saw red for brutal play and Crouch took full advantage by powering a shot home on 84 minutes. This would prove the winner to the delight of the home fans. Joshy admitted that he thinks his side ‘can at least push for promotion.’ Wienersnitzel will be wanting his side to come out of their mini-slump but a tough match awaits them next as they entertain EspAda.
AFC Boo Boys would enjoy their away day as they triumphed 4-1 at St Omer. Having failed to pick up a win in their previous two games the Boo Boys were seeking a return to form to reignite hope of promotion. Omer would have the first chance but Ersberg would be the equal of Marino Ulander’s lob before Ferran Roteta looped home a header at the other end to give Boo Boys the lead. Rob Blake would nearly have them 2-0 ahead but his lob from distance was ruled out for handball before Ulander levelled for the hosts with a clinical strike in the area. Lennox McCarroll nearly regained the initiative for the visitors but his chip struck the woodwork before Dennis Bogarde placed a shot too close to Ersberg as the contest remained open. Ignacio Delao would then go close with a powerful shot for the visitors but they had to settle for going in level. Boo Boys would put together a dominant second-half performance, though, to leave Omer demoralised. Roteta placed an early shot against a post before Valente Giusti hit the frame of his own goal as Omer came under pressure. Roteta would then see a header saved before Joseph Scheepens put a curled shot wide in a rare home attack. Ignacio Delao would make it 2-1 to the visitors on 75 minutes by rounding the ‘keeper and slotting home before Rain was forced into a save from Roteta a minute later. Gavril Rasvan was also denied by the ‘keeper but Roteta would make it 3-1 with a fine header on 79 minutes. Roteta would then complete his hat-trick in injury-time by cleverly toe-poking home to cap a satisfactory evening for Boo Boys. Skoolyou has his side six points back of third and they will need to produce a similar performance on Tuesday as wounded leaders Morley come to town. ConyTottee will be hopeful of a more positive performance next time out as they travel to play Reggae Reggae Sauce.
1863 Munich enjoyed a rare win as Cressex were put to the sword at The 1863 Fortress. Without a manager, Munich had been struggling of late but they managed to pull a performance out of the bag to take three points in this contest. Adrian Fontenla forced Martinzon into an early save from a decent strike but it would be Cressex who would take the lead as Bulent Onal powered in a header on 14 minutes. Munich would see a Stephane Aoudou header go over while Ubaldo Andre came close to making it two at for the visitors as his shot struck a post. Fontenla would hit a post for the hosts with a powerful low shot and as the chances kept arriving at both ends Andre was denied by Zinnari. Millivoje Berber would test the woodwork again on 39 minutes as the home side remained behind at the interval. They would level on 58 minutes, though, as Aoudou rifled home a penalty and the same player powered in a super shot six minutes later to turn the match around. Andre would hit the angle with a diving header at the other end while Fontenla was denied by Martinzon as Munich looked to extend their lead. Andre would continue his frustration with a lob which hit the bar before Aoudou missed the target with a header for the hosts. Cabbar Saatcioglu couldn’t level either for the visitors as his shot was excellently saved by Zinnari. Berber would then capitalise on his ‘keeper’s excellence by shooting home after a corner to put the seal on a 3-1 win. Munich’s fans will be boosted by this win but will know the long-term future of their club relies on a new manager being found. Villan_RAS will rue his side’s finishing and will also need them to tighten up in future games.
Reggae Reggae Sauce and Tottenham Hotspur were involved in a 0-0 draw in the other game at Sauce Bottle Arena. With the sides locked at the bottom this contest was all about bragging rights down there. Michael Dawson would see Mullen deny him on 19 minutes from a decent strike and this would prove the only chance of the first-half. Sauce would open up after the break with a mishit Homer Russell shot which brushed a post before Wayne Mardle missed the goal with a header. Tottenham would have a late chance to pinch a win as Sauce saw two men go off injured after neglecting to name substitutes. However, Robbie Keane would steer his shot straight at Mullen and the sides would share the points. Xpertelevener will want to remember subs next time out or they could pay the price quite badly. Meanwhile, Ocs will be happy with his side’s improved points return of late and will hope that continues during the second-half of the season.
