Robin Meeblind took time out of training to respond to recent speculation surrounding Totaalvoetbal, himself and Shay Given. After a similar story in the off-season regarding Fabrizio Colluato, Meeblind often finds himself at the heart of such matters.
‘This bears no comparison to that affair,’ began the embattled coach.
‘I never met up with Fab. In this case, myself and Shay enjoyed a nice lunch together. After spending so long in the RM Invitational we have become close friends. In fact, it was weird calling him Shay, to me he will always be Izu Cas.
‘Of course he spoke to me about longing to be at the most successful club in the RM Invitational and to win medals. It was only natural ThunderCats F.C would come up in the conversation. He said he envied their success. Why wouldn’t he? He’s an ambitious young ‘keeper and at the moment is fighting a relegation battle.
When asked about his thoughts on Given’s loss of form, Meeblind had this to say.
‘It’s quite obvious really. He doesn’t recognise anyone in front of him anymore. It’s like a revolving door there. He’s wondering when it will be his time to leave, some might say he’s counting the days until it’s his chance. He’d grace any club, so I’m sure there will be one or two suitors when it arrives.
‘Of course there is another underlying factor as to his loss of form. He used to face Ike Dyer in training and got confidence from never letting a goal in. Apparently, Bowser is bashing goals in left, right and centre and leaving Izu Cas....sorry Shay, feeling somewhat blue and lacking in confidence.
All that was left was for Meeblind to speak about Pierre van Diemen angling for a move to Pop Punk.
‘Ha ha ha ha...............................maybe a fortnight tomorrow guys, eh? Ha ha ha.’
