Upon promotion, Santos have been given a wake up call in stinging fashion. Dwelling at the bottom of the RM Inviational, with a palty 4 goals scored with a whopping 11 goals allowed. Although Santos can take solace in the fact that they faced the league’s three top sides, it is still a bitter reminder of how much quality is in the Invitational.
‘No one gives up in this league, no one will want to give up. This is the big league, the league where we wanted our chance. Now we have to step up, or we’re toast, eggs, bacon, and tea…teams will eat us for breakfast.’
Santos manager Sean7 has decided to change his plans from developing youth stars to adding established veterans while developing the team’s core players. As a result, 18 year old talent Luiz Jesuli was sold to Spanish sister Barcelona. ‘Jesuli is a great talent, he would have had a great future with the club. But with the quality of this league, we didn’t have too much time in developing our raw talents. In the pre-season we promoted two youths, Cesar Ferrari and Luis. Ferrari had a better pre-season tournament, so it was Luis the best of luck at Barca, we hope he has an illustrious career, and never forget the Brasilians!’
