Totaalvoetbal picked up a point in determined fashion at Yorkshires Amateurs in a game that finished 0-0.
With both sides packing the midfield there wasn’t to be much room for creativity and, as such, the game suffered as a result with only six chances being created.
What chances that did arrive in the first-half fell to the home side as Hans Riegler twice found Robert Keizer too good for him. Totaalvoetbal, meanwhile, were seemingly happy to sit in and wait patiently for their moment to attack.
The second-half saw Totaal edge back in terms of possession and hope grew amongst the away support that they might be able to pinch a winner. These hopes were effectively finished by the narrowest of margins as both Ike Dyer and Horacio Metelo shot inches wide of the home goal, both times with substitute ‘keeper Vadge appearing beaten.
Yorkshires Amateurs waited for their moment during a cautious half but they nearly reaped rewards in the dying moments. First Gabriel Mohan shot just wide before Hugo Smallwood was teed up from a free-kick to hit a shot which Keizer did well to hold.
So a point each for two sides who seem very evenly matched every time they meet, this being their third draw in as many games.
Totaal coach Meeblind was satisfied with a point;
“Of course I’m pleased. This will probably be a point more than most sides will gain here so it’s a massive positive.
“We are slowly turning round some of our lads’ poor form and this can only mean good news for us as a football club in the business of getting results.”
When asked whether he expected the Amateurs to be pushing for silverware come the season’s end he had this to say;
“Oh for sure. As soon as they get their big hitters in the best possible form then they will take some stopping.
“They won’t want to drop any further behind the top spot but there are sure to be many twists and turns to come. They’ll be very competitive all season.”
