Morley Magic First Win

Morley Town F.C. recorded their first victory of the season as they beat an in-form Carthage FC 2-0. The hosts played a tight first-half, clearly not wanting to fall behind with confidence at a low ebb. Their morale was tested at the beginning of the second-half when an injury to Art Boyle forced the midfield man from the field of play. This seemed to act as inspiration for the Yorkshire club, though, and they were in front only nine minutes later. Kieron Sedgemore produced some good approach play to set Angres Kafka away, the midfielder duly netting to set off wild celebrations in three sides of the ground. With Morley having something to defend they were now playing as though their lives depended on it and when Eric Fray saw red for the visitors you sensed the points were safe. Kafka confirmed this with a lovely free-kick in stoppage-time to get Morley off the mark for the season. Leeg21 will also be pleased with a clean sheet as his side look to build on the positives from this performance. Blakey0500 will look to bounce back against Internazionale in their next game albeit minus Fray.

Internazionale have problems of their own going into that game after falling to a 2-1 home reversal at the hands of Charlottenburg FC. It was a fully deserved three points for the visiting side as they dominated the chances in the game. Darren Anderton and Alan Thompson were the source of endless problems for Inter throughout the game and it was to be Anderton who would set-up the first goal. He was to provide an accurate cross for Stan Collymore to head in as his prolific start to the season continued. Charlottenburg looked to have put the game to bed at the beginning of the second-half when the two midfield men combined. Anderton picked out a precise pass to find Thompson in space and with a quick glance up the latter fired a shot past Hawke to double the lead. The away fans hadn’t finished their celebrations before the game was thrown back into the melting pot. Inter being awarded a penalty from which Neal Stapleton made no mistake. Despite this setback Charlottenburg continued to look the side most likely and held out for three points which sees them move up to fourth and look threatening. Potsdamerplatz explained that Stan Collymore’s ‘4 goals in 5 matches’ has meant that he will ‘keep him until the end of the season now.’ James Mc only had petulant signs for his side following the defeat, the most prominent of which involved ‘two fingers.’

White Hawk FC had the unfamiliar feeling of trying to bounce back from a loss as they took on the unbeaten Kensington Boys Club at White Stadium. Bounce back they did, though, in an eventful game which saw two penalties, a serious injury, a sending-off and an injury-time winner. White Hawk did most of the pressing in the opening half as they looked determined to banish their previous defeat. Creating and wasting a number of chances it took a penalty for them to hit the front, Adan Donahue scoring from the spot. Their joy was short-lived as a penalty was awarded at the other end, Maurice Jacobs proving the equal to Donahue with a calm strike. Kensington were much more of a force in the second-half and struck wood as they pressed for the three points. Things were to take a bad turn for the visitors in the final few minutes despite seeing opposing captain Ryan Dharmsingh taken off. Goalkeeper Darryl Barnett was sent-off and with Edwin Gardiner not yet having had a touch Charly Chan Jet Soe shot past him from a corner to give White Hawk the spoils. The result sees both clubs on 10 points after the opening five games of the season and both managers will be reasonably pleased with their start.

Both sides remain a point behind Kroklund Kings who were 2-0 winners over AJ Rovers. Kroklund proved tough for AJ to play through defensively and were clinical enough at the other end to warrant the three points. Aatu Vuokki put a smile on bossebong’s face with his third goal of the season on 15 minutes as Kroklund played with a confidence befitting a side who have yet to taste defeat this season. There was further joy for home fans in Don’t know yet stadium as Tapani Visavuori headed in from a Vuokki corner to leave Rovers dejected going into the half-time break. The second-half was a non-event which suited the Kings down to the ground as they were able to see out a comfortable victory with the minimum of fuss. Bossebong was clearly pleased as he explained ‘I have the worst team in my division and still top the table.’ Rovers would like that problem as they sit just above the drop zone even if it is early in the season.

Southampton produced a barnstorming comeback to leave Belly Tubbies shocked at St Marys. With neither side pulling up any trees so far this season Belly Tubbies produced a brilliant start to leave Southampton stunned. Dave Whittingham hit a free-kick directly into the net as the travelling fans dared to dream of three points. This was starting to look even more likely as Jules Vallade struck home his third goal of the season on 31 minutes but Southampton were to respond well. Norman Hemmings hit a speculative shot from distance which brought them back into proceedings on 36 minutes and despite the forward then being replaced you sensed he had buoyed the home side going into the interval. Indeed, almost instantly Joc Cvetkovic had them level at the start of the second-half and the revival was complete when Kevin Royale headed in emphatically to give them a 3-2 lead. There was still more drama to come as Dave Whittingham had the chance to level for the visitors from the spot but fluffed his lines and handed his side defeat in the process. Hardinho bemoaned the fact that his side ‘never do things the easy way’ but will surely be delighted with the character shown by his side as they move clear of the relegation zone. Fitzy has already stated that ‘relegation will not be a disaster’ as he rebuilds but this defeat must surely leave a sour taste in his mouth as well as leaving his side at the bottom of the table.

Los Samgeles Kings maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they beat Real Madrid FC 1-0 at Staples Center. The game was well-contested throughout the ninety minutes with both sides having chances which they might have done better with. The winning goal was to come at the start of the second-half as Ladislav Nagy finished off a pass from Michal Handzus to delight the home crowd. The defeat led to an angry response from FredRizzo who had ‘warned the players’ about missing chances. He then went on to issue an even clearer warning that he may ‘need to turn to the transfer market for players who know how to score.’ Stripy will be much more content as he steers his side through test after test and will be quietly confident of making a big impact this season.
