Jet Propelled Hawks Stay Top

White Hawk FC remained in a familiar first position in the league table after winning 1-0 at Internazionale despite the home side doing enough to deserve a share of the spoils. Charly Chan Jet Soe had found the net early for the visitors and the game was to continue at a fast pace throughout. Tattershall, Lorimer and Larsson were all guilty of missing chances during the opening 45 as the hosts gave White Hawk a tremendous contest. The second-half was a similar story with more chances being wasted by the hosts as Dankoi performed with assurance in goal. White Hawk nearly extended their lead in injury-time as both Perman and Nageswar were to hit the woodwork as Internazionale were caught stretched attempting to find the elusive equaliser. White Hawk will be content with how the season is shaping up but Internazionale, too, will be confident of being up with them as they have shown they can mix it with the very best.

Keeping pace with White Hawk are Real Madrid who had an eye-catching 3-2 win over Charlottenburg FC. In an eventful match Madrid took the lead through Mao Wannasathit but were quickly pegged back by a Teddy Sheringham header. With chances flowing at either end it was to be Madrid who would go in with an advantage at half-time. Aren Garabedian took advantage of some slack marking in the visiting defence to power in a header. Charlottenburg suffered a further blow with the injury to Tony Adams and when Wannasathit hit his second of the evening after 63 minutes their backs were firmly against the wall. They did make their only chance of the second-half count through Stan Collymore but it wasn’t to be enough as the hosts held out for three well-earned points. FredRizzo was delighted with the result stating the two wins have been ‘a dream start for us’ while claiming he was happy with his current squad as they have ‘solid players in every department.’ Potsdamerplatz will be hoping to bounce back in his side’s fixture with Morley Town.

Morley suffered a setback as they lost 1-0 at home to Kensington Boys Club. In a game of few chances the winning goal came after 39 minutes when Charles Tilly headed home on his debut. With the game tightening up even more after the interval it was to come as no surprise that there were to be no further goals. Morley remain goalless after their opening two games and following their unexpected promotion are finding life tough in Division Two. Kensington on the other hand are enjoying a much improved second season and with the side in excellent form Patrikpatrik will be keen to keep the run going.

Also enjoying a better start to their second season in the league are Kroklund Kings who were 2-1 winners at Belly Tubbies. Kroklund would create the better chances throughout the game but couldn’t find a finishing touch in the opening half to go with their good build-up play. They were shocked at the star of the second-half when Jules Vallade capped a very good individual performance by netting following a corner. Kroklund kept their patience despite falling behind and were to be rewarded late in the encounter. Their hero was the strangely named Dead Two whose brace was to win the game. Two found enough space to finish in the area for the equaliser and then finished off a breakaway move with an 89th minute goal to break home fans’ hearts. The result will come as a boost to Bossebong as he prepares his side for the matches ahead. Fitzy will want his side to find their feet sooner rather than later if his side are to avoid a season of struggle.

AJ Rovers bounced back from their poor opening day defeat with a solid 2-0 home win over a strong Carthage side. Restricting the visitors completely in the opening half AJ had set the perfect foundation to attack. They were to be rewarded for their industry in the 42nd minute with a Daniel Tabaranu header which beat Aurelius in the Carthage goal. Carthage came more into it in the second-half but, unfortunately for them, they were 2-0 down by this stage. Sonny Vickerman taking advantage of a free-kick some distance out to double the home lead. Try as Carthage might they couldn’t force their way back into the encounter and sit rock-bottom after the opening two rounds. Rothion will be happier after their poor opening day performance and will want this result to be the norm as the season moves on.

Los Samgeles Kings and Southampton contested a 1-1 draw in Division Two’s other fixture of Round Two. The brilliant Aaron Winder got his season up and running with an 18th minute free-kick as Southampton looked to put their opening day defeat behind them. Los Samgeles were coming into the game full of confidence after three points on opening day but were being made to work extremely hard all over the pitch by Southampton. The equaliser was also to arrive in the shape of a free-kick as Torben Kummel punished Saints’ ill-discipline with a fine shot. Neither side managed to find much in the way of chances after the interval and the game was to finish 1-1. The result was likely to please Southampton more as the away side but after two games it is Los Samgeles who will be more content with their position.
