Boys Rumble Belly

Kensington Boys Club continued their much improved second season with a thumping 3-0 win over Belly Tubbies. With chances coming thick and fast it was no surprise when Kensington took the lead on 40 minutes, even if it was through a penalty despatched by Maurice Jacobs. The second-half saw complete domination as Belly Tubbies struggled to come to terms with the home side all over the field. A second goal was added by Harry Whitlow when he found the net from distance and Cameron Nowell was to add the third and his second of the season with a beautiful free-kick. The result will be hugely disappointing for Belly Tubbies whose new ‘keeper Sahlberg hasn’t performed quite how he expects as of yet as he beds in with his new team. Kensington are taking full advantage of their relegation reprieve. Manager Patrikpatrik spoke of how he believes his side to be ‘well on their way’ to enjoying a successful season and that they are reaping the rewards of ‘good form as a result.’

Kroklund Kings are another side who seem to have settled during their second season and they gained a valuable point at Southampton. The game proved to be Jamesfreeman's last at the club as he moved onto the Tropical Thunder job and it was to be a stunning game of football in which to end his tenure. Aatu Vuokki netted the opener for the visitors after 17 minutes but teammate Toini Vasama put through his own net to level matters only nine minutes later. The lead was retaken by Kroklund with a fine header by Ilmari Jukka and this would remain until the latter stages of the game. Trudell Conway was to even extend the lead as Kroklund kept up the impressive record of netting with every chance they created. Southampton you sensed, however, were always in the game and they came back in dramatic fashion. Captain marvel Aaron Winder shot in following a corner before setting up Benos Hardinho only a minute later to level things at 3-3. Kroklund manager Bossebong was happy to focus on the positive of his older players performing ‘like they have never done before’ and was delighted they have ‘not a single loss so far.’ Southampton, meanwhile, welcome back old manager Hardinho for his second spell at the club and will be hoping he leads his side to a promotion place as he did in his first.

Charlottenburg FC returned to winning ways but made hard work of seeing off Morley Town. With the game being overshadowed by injuries to Reno Robredo of Morley and David Beckham of Charlottenburg chances were hard to come by. The hosts would win the game late on as Stan Collymore let fly from distance to score his third goal in three games this season. News coming out of the club explained that the manager forgot to give his side their tactics for the game but Potsdamerplatz later added, ‘we deserve a bit of luck.’ Leeg21 would probably like a slice of luck himself as his side struggle in front of goal and rumours coming out of the club are that they are looking for a new striker to ‘kick start their season’ and serve to ‘inspire the current strikers.’

White Hawk FC lost their 100% record as Los Samgeles Kings staged a thrilling comeback at White Stadium. The first-half was to be goalless as White Hawk couldn’t find a way past a strong looking visiting midfield. Despite this they were to stun Los Samgeles at the beginning of the second-half as they raced into a two-goal lead. Matts Perman was the beneficiary of a fine breakaway move and with the Kings still trying to regroup Jerry Raafenberg was on the end of a clever free-kick to make it 2-0. Stripy8 has his Kings side made of stern stuff, this being the case the response was instant. Torben Kummel met a cross perfectly to head the visitors back into the contest and within seven minutes they were level. Another cross, this time from Kummel, was misjudged by the home defence and Derek Armstrong took advantage to shock the home team. Both sides remain unbeaten and will be content with how their seasons are unfolding as the league table begins to settle.

Two sides on four points after the first three games are Internazionale and AJ Rovers who drew 1-1 at the San Siro. An early penalty had looked to give the visitors a major advantage as Eldur Gottskalk slotted in. Indeed, AJ remained in the box seat for much of the opening half but paid the ultimate price for not taking their chances just before the interval. Henrik Larsson found just enough space to fire off a shot which beat Mortimer and level the scores. Try as both sides might neither could find the winner in the second-half and the game ended deservedly in a 1-1 draw. The managers were unavailable for comment as they prepare their respective sides for Round 4.

Carthage FC provided an excellent display to stop Real Madrid’s impressive start to the season in its tracks. They did this despite conceding the opening goal and the majority of chances over the course of the game. Mao Wannasathit continued his good form with a lovely finish after 26 minutes as the game unfolded as expected in the first 45. Carthage hadn’t read the script, though, and stunned their visitors after the break. Eric Fray dragged them level with a neat strike two minutes into the second-half and they were to find themselves in front after 69 minutes. Quincy Lansbury provided a pinpoint cross for Rhys Gregson to attack and the forward finished well. Despite Madrid’s pressure the home side held on and even added a third as the game went deep into injury-time. Another header, this time from Fray, proved the undoing for Madrid as they paid the ultimate price for their profligacy. Blakey will have been delighted to notch three points while FredRizzo will hope this is just a blip after such a storming opening two games.
