Glory for Five-Star Hornets

Glory Hornets put in a stunning away performance to storm the Emirates and end 5-1 victors. The Hornets showed great composure to score five of their eight chances while the Gunners struggled in comparison, scoring just one of their six. The rout began when Eliott Malloy shot home from a corner on 10 minutes and it was to be the start of a super performance from the forward. He headed home his second goal on 34 minutes as the visitors took a stranglehold on the game before half-time. The sides traded goals at the beginning of the second-half as Dale Lansbury completed a breakaway to put the Hornets 3-0 up before Ernst Thunman responded quickly to raise hopes of an unlikely comeback for the Gunners. Despite having chances the home side just could not get back into the game and when Malloy completed his hat-trick on 81 minutes the contest was over. Seymour Coote added further insult to injury with a fine header in injury-time to complete a virtuoso performance. Josef tried to look on the bright side by saying, ‘I may have lost, but I had 6 chances and my opponents 8’ but will surely be disappointed by the result. Mucca, on the other hand, will be understandably delighted with his team’s performance and encouraged by their fourth position in the table.

Wandsworth FC were made to work hard for their victory at Grey Area but eventually came through 2-1. Despite giving up the majority of possession Wandsworth did edge the chances in the opening 45 minutes and they made one count to take a half-time lead. Darcy Hording escaped his marker to shoot home following a corner to edge the leaders in front. Both sides suffered nasty looking injuries as the second-half began in a rather disjointed fashion. Grey Area are showing a more resolute side to their game since the appointment of Carfin and dragged themselves level on 81 minutes with an Allan Bound header. With the home fans now in jubilant mood it came as a major disappointment that Hording was allowed to strike his second of the game in injury-time to pinch all three points for the table-toppers. Now eight points clear it is difficult to see who, if anyone, will be able to put up a challenge to Wandsworth as LotharIstvan drives his side on. Carfin was still in realistic mood despite taking them all the way, describing the form as ‘horrendous’ and estimating that it will ‘take ages to get this to an acceptable level.’

Alsancak F.C currently occupy second in the table following a 1-0 victory at The Posh. They produced a dominant display to out-chance their opponents 7-3 but a combination of poor finishing and a man-of-the-match performance from Arnie Tipton in the home goal ensured that the outcome would always be in the balance. The winning goal came early in the piece when Rowan Atlee teed up Kenny Acton for a long range shot which managed to beat the excellent Tipton. There were several super performances in the visiting side, not least the midfield display of Brad Kavanaugh whose sheer will seemed to drive them on throughout the game. Wienersnitzel can’t help but be impressed with his side’s performances while Leeds-Fan’s Posh side remain a mystery.

The Champs moved into third by derailing the three game winning streak of Portsmouth at Old Trafford. Neither side set the world on fire in a tight encounter but the extra quality of the home side’s forwards meant that they always carried more weight in the danger areas. So it proved when, on 23 minutes, Leigh Ellefson combined with Bruce Collinge from a free-kick for the latter to find the net. Portsmouth will feel somewhat aggrieved to come away from the contest with no reward after edging both possession and chances but football can be a tough school at times. With only one point separating second in the table to Portsmouth in sixth you feel there will be plenty of twists and turns to come and both sides will be involved until the season’s climax.

These Charming Men continue to build momentum and were worthy 3-0 victors at Chelsea. You sensed that RDCM’s side were testing the water in the first-half to see what threat the home side might pose and when they realised the game was theirs for the taking attacked in the second-half. The wonderful Jordi Rodri opened the scoring two minutes after the break with a header of quality and with Ricardo Carvalho going off injured for the home side their backs were, well and truly, against the wall. They didn’t help themselves when Eustace Wilkes put through his own goal to add to the lead and their misery was completed with another header, this time by Chano Delgado. RDCM will be a happy man but keen to keep his maxim of ‘training and working hard’ drilled into his players. Chelsea still have their eyes on the end game when their players will have developed from potential into seasoned performers but what might be concerning Jamma is their current form.

Northwich Victoria and wortley afc enjoyed a hard-fought tussle at Victoria stadium in a match which finished 1-1. The contest was tight throughout with both sides enjoying decent possession and chances. The goals came within three minutes of each other as the game was approaching half-time. Tom-Stian Anthonsen had headed the home side in front with his fifth goal of an impressive season but the lead was quickly eroded as Walter Willock stunned the home fans with a brilliant free-kick and his sixth of the season. With the game tightening up further after the break it surprised no-one when the contest ended 1-1 and both sides went away reasonably content. Northwich now have nine points and remain three points behind wortley who themselves are keeping in contention with a group of sides looking for promotion.
