First loss as manager gets it all wrong!
The Vikings suffered their first loss and the manager was quick to take the blame for totally losing the tactical battle with Izuka. Justin Portway also suffered a serious injury to further depress the manager.
The game started and there were several murmurs around the ground as fans tried to digest Eaglesrjh's bizarre choice of a 4-2-4 formation. The players did not seem to know what they were doing in this new formation and Izuhimovic almost took immediate average but his header hit the bar after just 4 minutes. This was to be the only chance of a fairly dull first half.
Three lions started the second half and Robin Van Izu forced young keeper Connely into a save on 53. van Izu was now causing problems and headed just wide a minute later. It was his strike partner Izuhimovic who opened the scoring heading in on 55 after a cross by Almedia. Portway then had the Vikings first chance but shot just wide on 56. Izuhimovic then shot over on 58 as the game at last had some excitement. Robin Van Izu then got the goal his play deserved as he cooly converted a penalty on 74. Almandis then hit a freekick over the bar for the Vikings in an all too rare attack. Van Izu then put a freekick too close to the keeper on 81 and then did exactly the same on 86. Eaglesrjh was resigned to losing the game at this point but salt was rubbed in the wounds when Portway went down under an innocuous looking challenge that he was expected to easily get up from. It was soon clear though that he had done some serious damage and he will likely be out for at least 5 games. no other chances were forthcoming in the game and Three Lions deservedly got their win.
Manager Eaglesrjh had this to say. "Well I expected Izuka to use a 5 man midfield hence the 4-2-4 longballs tactic. However when he produced a 4-4-2 I thought we were in trouble!!! Fair play to Izuka he wins this tactical round! As for the game itself I dont feel their is much shame at losing here, three Lions will be right up there at the end of the season and we are really just looking at being safely in this division next year. The injury to Portway is a sickner, there was nothing wrong with the challenge it was just the way he went down so no blame to the Three Lions player. Portway though is a young fit lad and i'm sure he will come back later in the season keen to get good form and plenty of matches but for now we will just have to live without him!!"
