Town News
Morley are on cloud nine tonight after defeating AFC Boo Boys 2-1 to take their winning run to an incredible nine wins from nine league games. Boo Boys had won their previous two games and looked like a dangerous prospect for the in form Morley Town side; and so it proved, in the first half Boo Boys matched and frustrated the home side.
Both sides failed to create a chance on goal and Town picked up two bookings as their usually excellent disciplinary record slipped, Morley allowed their frustration to show at their failure to break down the resolute Boo Boys defence.
Leeg21 must have had strong words with his team at half time because Morley came out for the second half with a renewed vigour and immediately set about breaking down the Boo Boys defence. Helder Velez’s powerful curling shot missed the target but showed Morleys intent to take three points from the game; Dustin Wotton sent the home fans into raptures with Towns next opportunity, the 20 year old forward slotted the ball past Ersberg after some fine work by Velez.
Six minutes later Wotton doubled his tally for the match and for the season with an accurate header from a cross by Rob Beech; Wotton has now scored four goals in two games this season and should have made it five but his diving header flew harmlessly wide.
Boo Boys managed their firs chance on goal in the 80th minute but Kummel hit his free kick straight into the arms of Gaughan. Kummel scored through his drilled shot on 85 minutes, it was a goal which should have set up a tense finale but Morley took control to see out the match and take the three points.
Morley are sitting pretty at the top of Division 3 with a six point lead on nearest challengers EspĂ…da ®, up next is a home tie with Crimson Tigers where Morley will be hoping to make it 10 wins out 10 for the season.
