Morley on Cloud Nine

Morley Town made it nine wins on the spin with a 2-1 success against AFC Boo Boys. Having been peerless so far this season the question in the league before this match was could Boo Boys stop the Morley train? The first-half would have promise for the visitors as they shut out Morley despite giving up the majority of possession. However, Morley would improve after the break and impose their will on the game. Helder Velez missed the target with a curled shot but Dustin Wotton did put Morley in front with a strike of real quality from inside the area. Wotton would then add his second with a clinical header on 65 minutes but missed his hat-trick chance by putting a diving header off-target. Torben Kummel would waste a free-kick for the visitors but he did pull a goal back with a powerful strike on 85 minutes. However, this wouldn’t lead to a comeback and Morley had recorded their ninth successive win. Morley News was already focusing on the next match where they ‘will be hoping to make it 10 out of 10 for the season.’ Skoolyou won’t be too disappointed with this narrow defeat and a home match against a youthful Omer offers them the chance to get back to winning ways.

EspAda lost ground on Morley as they were stung by an excellent Alsancak at Huco Mundo. Giving up several years in experience and a skill bar most experts were tipping defeat for Alsancak but they had different ideas. Danny Rose would have a shot saved by Kerrigan following a quiet start. The home side responded with an Andrea Gualco free-kick but it would go high and wide and the sides would go in deadlocked. Alsancak had the chance to start the second-half in style but Fabrice Muamba put a header off-target. EspAda would then see Diego Maradona’ lob tipped over before being grateful to Kerrigan for tipping over Andrew Taylor’s free-kick. Frederik Smit would miss a volleyed chance for EspAda and they would rue the miss as Rory Burston converted a penalty for Alsancak to put them 1-0 ahead. It would be a lead they would never look like losing to the delight of the travelling faithful. Wienersnitzel’s side have now opened up a four-point gap on fourth and with the squad enjoying outstanding form there is no reason to suggest a downturn in fortune. Crismorena will undoubtedly be disappointed by this result and only a win against Rolling Thunder on Tuesday will satisfy their demanding fans.

1863 Munich and Crimson Tigers were involved in a keenly fought contest at The 1863 Fortress which would end in a 1-1 draw. With Tigers enjoying a renaissance this season and Munich also a threat an intriguing contest was in store. A free-kick on 10minutes saw Stephane Aoudou hit the bar for the hosts and they would nearly find themselves a goal behind but Byron Greening’s chip was disallowed for the visitors due to some shirt pulling. Aoudou would hit his next free-kick at Clemens as the sides both continued to threaten. Andy Howe would be the next to try his luck for the visitors but his shot was gathered by Zinnari and the sides would go in level. Munich would start the second-half with a bang, though, as Fabrizio Gualtieri produced a superb diving header to find the net only to find it disallowed for more shirt pulling. However, they would have the lead moments later as Turlough Daly despatched a penalty with ease. Aoudou would see another free-kick saved and the Tigers would fight back. Miroslav Burkhart would prove their hero as he toe-poked home from inside the area when presented with a half chance. They might have even won the game but Kendrick Osmond’s half-volley went wide and the points would be shared. Munich continue to impress without the leadership of Anderson and if the manager does return soon they will be in good shape to improve further. Paulc333 had admitted ‘hoping to get the win’ but a point away from home is no bad thing although they will have to be on their guard in the match-up with Morley next.

Rolling Thunder and FCR Cressex would also be involved in a draw as an exciting match finished 2-2 at Cloud Nine. With two youthful and inexperienced sides going at it the fans were looking forward to an open contest and the game would certainly deliver action. The game started in feisty fashion before Goncalo Cook lobbed the hosts ahead on eight minutes. A shot by Jovan Gagic would then be saved by Martinzon before Emil Rojas was sent-off for brutal play to add to the visitor’s troubles. John Obi Mikel looked to capitalise on this but his half-volley couldn’t find the net and Cressex stunned their hosts with a super free-kick by Ubaldo Andre which levelled the game. Gagic would head Thunder back into the lead on the hour-mark but, amazingly, their lead wouldn’t last long. With just their second chance of the game Andre rounded McArraway to slot home and level the match once more. Thunder would attempt to win the game but Marcelo da Silva put a free-kick off-target before Francois Rouland was also lacking in accuracy from a drive on 76 minutes. This proved their last chance and Vehusheia’s side had to settle for a point. Nevertheless they are still well-placed in fifth but will be hopeful of upsetting EspAda on Tuesday to throw themselves into the thick of the promotion race. Villan_RAS will be relatively pleased with his side’s progress this term and will be hoping to continue positively in the second-half of the season.

Anime Allstars FC enjoyed a successful away day as they raided Tottenham Hotspur for a 3-0 win. With Spurs struggling to make an impact in their first season Allstars travelled in confidence and it wouldn’t be misplaced. Spurs did start off in positive fashion, though, although Ledley King lobbed over before Johnny Douglas headed over at the other end. Niko Kranjcar would have a diving header saved by the hosts before Kugen Tenko would fail to make a free-kick count as the sides continued to trade chances. Tenko would be more unfortunate with the next set-piece as the angle of post and bar denied what would have been a superb opener. Misaki Kurehaa would give Anime a flying start to the second-half by heading in the opener while Tenko came close to adding a second with a header which needed saving. Colin Crouch would make it 2-0 on 75 minutes, though, with an unstoppable diving header as Tottenham struggled to cope. Tenko thumped a free-kick off-target but Anime did add a third as Sonsaku Hakufu headed home to complete the visitor’s superiority. Joshy will be hopeful of another successful away day on Tuesday as they travel to Alsancak in a bid to close the gap on third. Ocs will continue developing his squad for future seasons and he will be relieved to see the halfway point of the season after the next match.

St Omer would continue their standout season with a 2-0 home victory over Reggae Reggae Sauce. With Omer showing the green shoots of recovery during the opening to the season the home fans travelled to the game in positive fashion. Arne Seiffert might have given them even more reason to believe on two minutes but mishit his shot wide. Roderick Jacobs would also mishit a shot on 16 minutes but he enjoyed more luck as it nestled in the back of the net for the opening goal. The theme of mishit shots would continue on 20 minutes as Cony Tottee failed to connect properly with his effort and watched on as it struck a post and trickled away agonisingly. Jacobs would then see Mullen punch away a headed effort as Omer had to settle for a 1-0 lead at the break. Tord Ryd would be the next to be denied by Mullen as his power shot was saved before Seiffert saw a driving shot blocked by the ‘keeper. Jacobs would hit the next chance well-wide but Valente Giusti would power in a strike on 71 minutes to double the home side’s lead. Shivan Preetnav did have an effort saved for the visitors but they would end up convincingly beaten. After calling eighth ‘dizzying’ before the game Omer might be looking even higher soon if they continue this fine form. The same cannot be said of RRS but they might be hopeful ahead of their bottom of the table clash with Tottenham on Tuesday.
