Totaalvoetbal followed up their draw against Kirkbride with a good three points against champions, West Brom Strollers.
Totaalvoetbal would look the better side throughout the contest but left it late to clinch the points. Shirsh Vajpayee had an early goal cancelled out due to Cyrille Regis’ strike for the hosts. However, the superb Pierre van Diemen would strike from distance on 83 minutes to earn Totaal a 2-1 victory.
Jaap Cruz picked up MOM honours and he said a few words to the press afterwards:
‘It’s been a pleasure to come into a side with so many ambitious players,’ opened the experienced defender.
‘I’ve not got long left in my career and wanted to come to a club who wanted to progress and have the ambition to win every game they play, even if it is not always possible.
‘I feel young again and am enjoying my football. If I’ve made a difference to the team then great. For now, it is still early to be talking about whether I am a success or not. Let’s wait and see.’
