Delgado Dents Dhabi

These Charming Men consolidated their place in the top three with a 1-0 over Abu Dhabi United. With Abu Dhabi fielding a very young side it was thought TCM would enjoy a relatively comfortable evening but it wouldn’t turn out exactly like that. The opening half would be somewhat fractious but Chano Delgado did light it up with a looping header which gave TCM a lead on 35 minutes. The second-half would be a little more attacking and Loran Rajabi skimmed a shot over as the visitors looked to make it two. Delgado would also go close as his header hit the bar and they might have paid late on. Loran Rajabi saw red for a tackled from behind and Ilppo Visavuouri gave them the fright of their lives by putting the ball in the net; fortunately for the visitors the goal would be disallowed thanks to a dubious offside call. Still, there was time for Abu Dhabi to press and a shot by Claudio Moura struck the woodwork to give TCM a reprieve. RDCM was relieved with the win but seemed more interested in his night’s entertainment when he asked the press, ‘who did kill Archie Mitchell??’ (It was Stacey in case you missed it)The press were certainly getting value for money as Talinmer came in and exclaimed, ‘Oh whatever shall becometh of me and my men! We have been felled!’ Indeed.

Gooners also enjoyed a welcome return to winning ways as they defeated Juventus 3-0. After stumbling slightly in their last two games FMR was hopeful his side would show a more ruthless streak and they wouldn’t disappoint. Juve did have the first chance but Jacobo Chacros’ free-kick was easily gathered by Seaman and the home side looked the better from here on in. A free-kick saw Iain Wright curl in the opener on 38 minutes and they would take this lead into the break. A penalty on 65 minutes gave them the chance to make it two and Dennis Bergkamp confidently converted before a late sending off added to Juve’s woes; Vicenzio Rossitto seeing red for arguing. Wright would then cap an excellent individual display with another super free-kick and the Gooners took the points. FMR admitted it was ‘nice to get MOTR finally’ before engaging in pre-match banter with Cath ahead of Tuesday’s big game. SuperJuve will be desperate for his side to pick up the points against wortley next up as they sit next to bottom and losing too many games for comfort.

The team they still all have to catch is Bully Boys FC who despatched FC Bayern Munchen with little trouble at Bulldog HQ. After hitting top spot in the last round Cathal’s side were keen to stay there and it never looked in doubt in a one-sided encounter. They tried to strike early and Syvaluoma had already been made to save a Berti Behrends shot by the time Tero Perotie lobbed a header home on three minutes. Behrends quickly made it 2-0 with another header on 14 minutes as Bully Boys threatened to run amok. However, Munchen did force a chance with Chuck Ewing heading over although Dominic Smythe also had an effort at the other end as his header needed saving by the ‘keeper. The second-half saw Bully Boys continue to dominate but they had to survive an early headed chance by Ewing which didn’t really trouble Kangashaka. Behrends would mishit his next effort for the hosts and put it well-wide but a Sjunne Wenna header had them 3-0 up on 87 minutes. Moments later Trudell Conway forced Syvaluoma into a leg save from a decent strike before Aatu Vuokki curled a powerful shot on target but was also denied by the ‘keeper. Bully Boys also saw Perotie have a half-volley saved but all the missed chances wouldn’t matter as they secured a comfortable 3-0 win. Cath was keen to talk about his next match and expressed his belief that ‘whoever is the luckiest will win.’ Dimentis’ side remain in mid-table and on the back of this tough defeat have a tricky looking home match against Crimea on Tuesday.

Crimea will go into that game full of confidence after disposing of PSV Eindhoven 4-0 at the Theatre of Tragedy. With Ithaqua now settled in the hot-seat the club have been making steady progress up the table and nothing less than a win against a youthful PSV would do for the demanding fans. Marcel Desailly opened the scoring on nine minutes with a powerful long range shot while Reina had to be alert moments later to stop from an Alan Smith side-footed shot. Andrey Arshavin would make it 2-0 on 26 minutes with a fine header and Carl Spegel soon added his name to the sheet after rounding Reina to slot home. Vivien Tchameni chipped an effort over as the home side continued to dominate and they went in with their three-goal lead. PSV would make more of a fist of it after the break but Crimea did add another goal with a fine header from Smith. Alex Song might have done better with his chance before the away side responded. Claudio Collauto put a shot over from a tight angle before Iwan Balkaran headed too close to Fabianski. They would also see Yang Sheng Nanmeng lob over but in truth it wasn’t to be their day and they had fallen to their seventh successive defeat. Kadri thinks a more attacking system might be the key as ‘defending hasn’t been (their) strong point this season.’ Ith proclaimed himself ‘satisfied’ although he admitted they ‘learned nothing new’ in the game.

The Kings and Dream Team were involved in a tight draw at Masters in a competitive contest. With the sides looking to move into a threatening position behind the top three they would both need the points. It would be Dream Team who made the more progressive start and Dudley Dream found his range from distance on 17 minutes to put them in front. Ronaldo Ready then put a free-kick just over before the hosts hit back. A swift breakaway ended with Allan Akerboom chipping over Delirious and into the net but with the assistant flagging furiously the goal would quickly be chalked off. The Kings did start the second-half positively even though Otis Dove drove well off-target. Despite this they would be rewarded minutes later with Jamie Sinclair placing the ball beyond Delirious to level the game. Dream Team would recover from the setback and go searching for the winning goal. However, Mil Moody would waste a sight of goal by shooting wide before Ready narrowly failed to find the net from a free-kick. Ultimately both sides would take away a point each to add to their respective tallies. Hitman’s side sit in fifth but five points back of the top three and so will need to go to Futsal in positive mood. @peace still hasn’t seen his side fully hit their straps so far this term and will demand more when they face Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

In the other game wortley picked up an important three points with a 2-0 successive over Futsal. Going into the game with only one win to their name they knew the importance of victory as they tried to drag Futsal into the battle. Paulinho Santos gave wortley the boost they needed with an early header which put them 1-0 up. Walter Willock would have the only other chance of the half but Roberts tipped the ball over and the gap would remain at one. The second-half began with Brandon Hiller having a header saved by Roberts before Graeme Haynes shot Futsal’s first chance wide at the other end. Willock would lob over for wortley before Rai Kike volleyed too close to Roberts as they looked for the all-important second goal. It would come on 67 minutes as a well-placed header from Hiller evaded Roberts and found the net. Rick Tuttle tried to bring the visitors back into it but put his shot off-target and wortley might have added another but Quincy Bowey’s toe-poke struck a post. Nevertheless the three points will have delighted Thegtreatlordbags and they will boost their survival chances even further if they can beat Juve on Tuesday. Futsal will want Wildy to resume duties soon as they too look like facing a relegation dogfight this season.
