AFC Boo Boys enjoyed a fine home victory as they put 1863 Munich to the sword at AFC Boo Boys Stadium. With Munich missing Anderson for the last couple of weeks, Skoolyou took full advantage to deliver a manager of the round performance and claim victory. A breakaway saw Derek Armstrong have an early shot saved by Zinnari while Stephane Aoudou put a free-kick too close to Ersberg as the sides traded chances. Fabrizio Gualtieri also headed straight at Ersberg for the visitors and they were indebted to Zinnari who tipped over a lob by Torben Kummel at the other end. Sancho Tamudo would also be foiled before Armstrong allowed Zinnari to pull off a theatrical save by lobbing a tame effort towards goal. Armstrong would also put his next effort over but a flick header on 41 minutes did put the home side ahead. They would take this lead into the second-half where Torben Kummel had a half-volley saved by Zinnari. Armstrong would then mishit a shot when well-placed but they would make it 2-0 with a powerful low shot by Elton Pehrsson on 80 minutes. This swiftly became three as Alexander Frolov lobbed home an excellent finish from inside the area and this capped a fine day for the hosts. Skoolyou now has his side homing in on that third promotion spot and a trip to Morley on Friday will certainly test their credentials. Anderson will need to return before Munich can harbour similar ambitions.
Morley carried on their merry way with an easy 3-1 success at Reggae Reggae Sauce. With the sides going in opposite directions regarding future potential Leeg21 will have been confident of victory in this one. This confidence will have been further aided by a superb Adolf Munzberg free-kick on 12 minutes which gave them a 1-0 advantage. Munzberg then had a header tipped round by Mullen as Morley continued to look the more progressive unit. However, they would be given a warning on 35 minutes as Franciszek Kamiski fired a free-kick just over the bar. This would prove the last chance of the first-half but there would be plenty of goal action in the second 45 minutes. Munzberg would hit a driving shot too close to Mullen on 49 minutes but Morley would find their second goal when the same player hit through the ‘keeper’s legs on 66 minutes. RRS would be gifted a way back into the contest on 77 minutes as Christiano Torres stroked home a penalty but Munzberg would dash their hopes with a fine shot on 89 minutes to complete his hat-trick. Sauce did have a late header by Kamiski which hit a post but it would have proven irrelevant anyway as they slumped to their seventh defeat of the season. Leeg21’s biggest task is to remain focused as they continue to sweep all before them. Xpertelevener has youthful Omer up next but unless his side find a bit of variety in their play the end result will likely be the same.
EspAda continue to look the only side capable of challenging Morley and a 2-1 away success at Anime Allstars kept them just three points behind at the top. With Anime interspersing some good performances with bad EspAda knew they had to be on their guard in this particular match-up. The first-half would see the sides tentatively feel the other out and with no goals or even chances the fans were relieved to hear the half-time whistle. The second-half would be a different story, though, and Vedin Sinanovic had an early chance for the visitors but steered his shot off-target. A breakaway then saw Patric Torebring lob over the bar and Anime stunned them by taking the lead; Johnny Douglas converting a penalty with relative ease. EspAda wouldn’t panic despite this deficit although Zihni Demiray couldn’t find the target with his shot on 70 minutes. Torebring would follow up by having a shot saved while Douglas saw a header go wide at the other end. EspAda would finally level on 86 minutes as Torebring headed in with some aplomb and this delight would double moments later as Frederik Smit rounded Sapienza to slot home and put the visitors in front. Anime did have an instant chance to level but Douglas fired wide and they slipped to a late reverse. Joshy will continue to develop his squad this season and if they can remain in good form they should have every chance of being in a better position this time next season. Crismorena’s side are looking good for promotion but they will have their sights set on a title showdown with Morley for the remainder of the season.
Alsancak would reclaim third spot as they defeated FCR Cressex 3-0 at Mosquito Alley. Both sides had been impressive at times this season but with them also fielding very young teams it was hard to know how the game would pan out. The home side would start the better but Danny Rose’s driving shot was saved by Martinzon. Andrew Taylor would produce a far better finish on 13 minutes when presented with a free-kick chance; arrowing it into the top corner the ‘keeper stood no chance. Rose would then get his goal nine minutes later as he steered home a shot in the area. Taylor headed wide from the next chance but Alsancak still went in with a comfortable lead. A free-kick at the start of the second-half saw Emil Rojas miss the target for the visitors before Ubaldo Andre hit the bar with a header as they tried to force their way back into the contest. John Burston demanded an excellent save from Martinzon at the other end from a header while Rojas failed once more from a free-kick as Cressex grew desperate. Jack Rodwell would volley well off-target for the hosts but they would go 3-0 ahead with an accurate headed goal from Lee Cattermole. There was still time for Rojas to hit another poor free-kick straight at Frost and Alsancak could celebrate victory. Wienersnitzel has his side two points clear of fourth but their focus won’t be on anything other than a tough trip to EspAda on Friday. Villan_RAS will expect defeats like this with his youthful side and another away trip awaits them next as they journey to face Rolling Thunder.
Crimson Tigers were left to rue missed chances as they were held to a goalless draw by Rolling Thunder at Hoppitop ground. With the sides harbouring hopes of finishing third at the end of the season it was vital neither gave ground to the other. However, it would be one-way traffic from the moment Dan Ruffer struck a post with an early steered shot for the hosts. Dante Allegri would then see a toe-poke saved by Jorquera before a free-kick by Klyde Krippner went wide. The second-half would see a similar pattern as Andy Howe headed over for the home side. Krippner would have another free-kick but it would be held by Jorquera before he saw the ‘keeper turn away another effort in injury-time. The game would have proved frustrating for Paulc333 but it’s another point on the board and they are certainly ahead of schedule at the moment. Vehusheia will want his side to capitalise on this point by taking all three at home to Cressex on Friday to move closer to the top three.
In the other game of the day St Omer edged Tottenham 1-0 in an open contest. With both sides more accustomed to losing the fans were curious as to how this one would play itself out. Tottenham had the first chance but Marcus Young’s shot was saved by Hamshaw before a free-kick by Ayoze Valcarce was also stopped by the ‘keeper. Omer responded with a powerful low shot by Cony Tottee which went close before Frederick Blackmoor missed with a toe-poke. The second-half would see more chances as both sides seemed intent on going for the win. Robbie Keane would flick a header off-target for the visitors while Young also curled a shot just wide. Omer would see Dennis Bogarde have a shot punched away while Niko Kranjcar brought the best out of Hamshaw from a precise header. Valente Giusti would then stun the visitors by firing Omer into a goal lead on 67 minutes following a fine breakaway move. Tom Huddlestone tried to respond for Tottenham but his volley was saved while Hamshaw also denied Valcarce’s chip on 79 minutes. Omer nearly added a second but Frederick Blackmoor’s half-volley was saved by Gomes while Bogarde headed a further chance wide. However, they wouldn’t pay for these late misses as Omer held on for a welcome three points. ConyTottee will be more than happy with his side’s third win of the season and a home match against RRS offers promise of another one. Ocs put a brave face on the loss and explained he’s ‘used to losing whilst building up a semi-decent squad.’
