Branston in a pickle!

The Vikings midfielder Lewis Branston found himself the victim of a prank gone wrong by the player of an opposing side after going out to celebrate The Vikings taking top spot and his best ever performance since his début.

Branston was out with team mates and some players from opposing side AFC Pop Punk who were relaxing after their hard fought draw against Totaalvoetbal at the popular nightclub Daves Disco Bar.

New Pop Punk signing Olli Rahkamaa was undergoing an initiation where he had to chat up a player from an opposing side, so he declared his "interest" in Branston. Branston not realising it was a joke became very enamoured with Rahkamaa and became very forceful with him, trying to kiss him and grabbing him in places we can't mention in a family paper.

Rahkamaa tried to defend himself and as Branston became even more aggressive and violent, Pop Punk defender Adolf Crippler stepped in and knocked Branston unconscious, Branston fell to the floor in a heap, unfortunately injuring his foot in the process meaning he will be unavailable to The Vikings for at least 18 days.

A spokesman for The Vikings said:
"This is unfortunately just a prank gone horribly wrong, its not the first time Branston has been hurt for being forceful towards another man whilst drunk but it is the first time his injuries have meant he was unable to play, this is a shame but we'll try to stay at the top of the table without him"

A spokesman for Pop Punk said:
"The whole dressing room find this event hilarious and as much as the incident was unfortunate Adolf Crippler and Olli Rahkamaa are now much more popular with their team mates, they cooperated fully with the police investigation and like the police we consider the matter closed"
