After being rejected as Thundercats FC manager Cathal Brennan had some strong words to say.
"All credit to Eagles who picked a fair way to decide who was to be Meelas's Successor. It was the fairest way to do it I feel.
Baz has been made the new manager and it makes me think what is going to happen to Thundercats. Are we gonna see the new Baz which doesn't involve my grandfather in the team or are we gonna see the same old one who I think isn't the right man for the job. Baz has a good style of managing but I don't think it is right for the team he has took over. He is a smashing fellow and I hope he can do good with them."
Cathal Brennan then moved on to whether he will be staying at Villarreal:
"Obviously, this recent event has distressed me in one way or the other and I feel now that I will not be able to concentrate while managing Villarreal. I had great plans for them but then found interest elsewhere and seeing what happened I don't know if I am to continue my interest in this club.
Brennan is considered a legend of the league after winning the title in his first season but alot has gone wrong since then.
When asked how long he thinks he will stay at Villarreal for, he answered:
"Not to long, maybe just 'til the end of the season. You never know, this may be the end of me in this league. Maybe this is all I can do in this league and now I should leave and join another. I have a connection with this league but I feel for some reason I haven't been getting enough."
Then the most surprising bit of them all:
"I have made big mistakes. I shouldn't have chosen this approach. The mistakes started in Season 3 and I regret what I have done. I want to be back in the top division and I don't have the patience to wait. I belong in the top division. I belong in the title race, so too does Robin Meeblind, Eagles, Izu, Jazza and the recent departure, Meelas. I want to be in that title race but I don't have the skill to take this side up there anytime soon, i'm not as good as Robin or Eagles or Izu or Jazza but on my day when I am determined and can beat each and every one of them. I can go a season long and win the league, with luck as well. For example, if Robin and I played at our best against eachother, there would only be one outcome; a 0-0 draw. And it is those results and then better against the smaller sides that win you the league. As I said I have made big mistakes. Mistakes that none of the above would have made."
When asked where he is going to go from here, he simply said:
"Another league or the top division."
