Dream Hit for Six

Wortley saw off Dream Team 6-4 to take a massive step towards promotion from Division Three. Neither team would die wondering in a frantic and exciting contest that saw 18 chances and 10 goals. The visitors began well and took the lead when Ronaldo Ready thumped a long range shot home on six minutes. If anything this would inspire Wortley and Quincy Bowey had them level three minutes later following a fabulous lob. Both ‘keepers would have busy evenings and would excel at times; Curt Pryor shooting too close to Delirious while Mil Moody brought out the very best from Gareth following a side-footed effort. Brandon Hiller nearly had Wortley back in front but his header struck the woodwork but Moody couldn’t capitalise at the other end as he put a header wide. His team would go into a 2-1 lead moments later, though, as Dudley Dream flicked in a header to send the away fans wild. Ultimately the celebrations would prove short-lived as Paulinho Santos lobbed Delirious to make it 2-2. Wortley would then see Pryor hit through the ‘keepers’ legs to give them their first lead of the day and it might have been 4-2 on the stroke of half-time but Pryor could only hit his shot wide. Gareth had to be alert to stop from Moody at the beginning of the second-half but there was nothing he could do as a precise header from Ready made it 3-3 on 49 minutes. The home fans would find themselves stunned two minutes later as Garry Gain headed in from a corner to give Dream Team the lead again in this topsy-turvy contest. Befitting the match, though, Hiller headed in a quick-fire equaliser to make it 4-4 with still over 30 minutes remaining. Luke Light would see a header go over for the visitors and a side-footed shot by Pryor at the other end had the hosts 5-4 ahead. Santos would miss a chance to extend the lead by shooting wide but the miss wouldn’t prove costly as Hiller headed in on 86 minutes for a crucial goal. Dream Team were broken after this goal and slipped to what might prove a costly defeat. Thegreatlordbags won’t let his side rest on their laurels following this win as they have another tough home game to come against the Mojos and the title is far from won. Mr James finds his side out of the top three following this defeat and said his ‘last minute change of formation’ was ‘probably the difference.’

Gooners ensured the pressure would remain on Wortley as they won 5-2 at FCR Cressex. Cressex opened hopefully and Lauro Poggi had them 1-0 ahead with a diving header on four minutes. Gooners were soon into their stride, though, and Sylvain Wiltord replied with a header of his own three minutes later to make it 1-1. Thierry Henry immediately saw a lob crash back off the bar while Tryggvi Valsson missed with a shot at the other end. Henry would have his goal on 36 minutes as his chip had too much class for Clooney but the ‘keeper did manage to hold well from a Dennis Bergkamp shot a minute later. The second-half saw more chances and more goals as both sides looked to entertain. Wiltord saw Clooney save his strike before Bergkamp missed the goal with a free-kick as Gooners looked for a two-goal cushion. This would arrive courtesy of a diving header by Martin Keown on 74 minutes. Poggi could only put his lobbed header over as Cressex fought back and they would pull a goal back on 83 minutes with the striker making amends. Gooners wouldn’t let this effect them, though, and they finished much the stronger of the sides. Henry would score his second of the day from the penalty spot on 88 minutes and just three minutes later he steered another effort past Clooney to complete a memorable hat-trick. Tony Adams wasted a late chance to make it 6-2 but it wouldn’t be important as the Gooners picked up the points. FMRealism called the two goals against his side ‘totally unacceptable’ as he searches for X11 perfection and the Division Three title to boot. Villan_RAS keeps on entertaining with his Cressex side but they will look for more points next season to go with it.

Morley Town recorded their expected win over Norfolk to move into the promotion places. They put together a comprehensive first-half performance which saw them create seven chances while shutting out the home side completely at the other end. Reno Robredo would enjoy some fortune in putting them ahead, however, as his mishit shot trickled past Clemens on three minutes. A free-kick a minute later saw Angres Kafka double their advantage with a crisp strike. Florian Arnautu enjoyed nothing but bad luck on nine minutes as his header looped over Clemens only to rebound off the bar. Kelvin Headon would make it 3-0 on twenty minutes, though, as he placed a shot home inside the area and a diving header by Art Boyle made it four shortly afterwards. Helder Velez wasn’t as accurate with his shot which went over the bar but a fifth goal looked to have arrived as Giacomo Caracciolo netted but the officials ruled it out. Nevertheless it would be 5-0 before the break as Headon chipped in and the match was effectively won at half-time. The second-half would prove to be a non-event as neither side enjoyed a chance on goal. Leeg21 looks to be timing his run just right but they face a crucial examination of their credentials next as they travel to Dream Team. Howemiester’s side continue to rack up the losses and the fans will be relieved when the players age a year.

1863 Munich remained the best of the rest with a thumping 5-0 home victory over Jammas AllStars. Eliott Malloy headed against the bar early on as the home side signalled their intentions. Frezzolini would then be forced to save from a Lionel Monk diving header but Turlough Daly would have the hosts in front following a shot from a corner. Seth Eaves placed home an accurate shot for the second goal before the break and Munich went into the half very much in control. The AllStars would see Steven Riley fire over during the second 45 minutes but there was precious little else to cheer. They were 3-0 behind when Daly headed home precisely on 78 minutes and the forward completed his hat-trick when he steered home a shot seven minutes later. The fifth goal arrived courtesy of Fabrizio Gualtieri’s side-footed shot to complete a fine evening’s work for the home side. While Anderson admitted ‘the gap is too big for promotion’ he did add that they would ‘get form up and strengthen in the off-season.’ There was good news for AllStars fans as Jamma explained that his focus has been elsewhere but he is now looking for ‘talent’ to improve his squad.

Mighty Mojos edged out Alsancak 1-0 in an enterprising game at Mojo Arena. The visitors came within a whisker of taking an early lead as Richard Stearman headed against the angle. Gabriel Agbonlahor would put a diving header over as they continued to attack and home ‘keeper Housham had to be alert to save from Rory Burston’s header. Mojos had their first chance on 12 minutes but Myles Allott missed the target with a header. Darius Mossley would then have a low shot saved by Frost while a free-kick at the other end saw Andrew Taylor’s effort punched away. The chances would keep coming and Michel Montolio wasted one for the hosts by shooting wide from a free-kick. Mojos would take the lead shortly afterwards, though, as Allott headed past Frost to his obvious delight. Lee Cattermole had a chance to level before the break but he couldn’t make his diving header count and they went in behind. Alsancak would continue to press after the break but Burston had his volley saved by Housham. Agbonlahor came within inches of levelling as his shot brushed a post while Abraham Axhorn fired a warning shot at the other end. Alsancak pressed until the last but Taylor wasted one free-kick chance before Fraizer Campbell’s shot was punched away by man-of-the-match Housham. Joshy continues to improve his Mojos side and they look likely to be a real force next season as the manager promises to 'train his players hard.' The same could be said for Wienersnitzel’s Alsancak and the change report promises to be an exciting time for their followers.

EspAda found form to defeat Rolling Thunder 4-1 at Huco Mundo. Thunder had the first chance but Erland Hangeland’s free-kick was saved by Newell. The hosts responded by striking a post through a Patric Torebring shot and a toe-poke by the forward would have the hosts ahead on four minutes. Torebring placed home a second just five minutes later only to be disappointed by the assistant’s flag. Frederik Smit would have better luck as he rounded Jorquera to make it 2-0 and the midfielder quickly had them 3-0 ahead with a fine shot following a quality breakaway move. Yiannis Koutsis hit the angle with a lob at the other end on 41 minutes and the home side were back on the attack as Zihni Demiray lobbed a header over. Thunder would pull a goal back in the second-half as Ludo Cappellacci lobbed home from distance but it would be all EspAda from that point on. Andreas Sommer couldn’t direct a shot home on 73 minutes but Beltran Bergantinos would give them some help by putting through his own goal on 76 minutes. Koutsis would see red for the visitors to cap a miserable day and it might have been worse as Torebring and Andreas Sommer wasted late chances. Malteseexpert will be lifted by the result and the promise of better things next season. Vehusheia will welcome next season after taking over a troubled side but with some signings over the silly season things will look to improve.
