Buta Point for Wortley

Mighty Mojos threw another spanner in the works of a promotion favourite by taking a point from Wortley in a 1-1 draw. The Mojos got a boost when Timotei Buta headed in from the first sight on goal to give the visitors a lead to protect. Ferdinand Quinn might have made the task tougher for wortley but he headed straight at Gareth. Wortley had their first chance just before half-time but Housham was alert to stop Curt Pryor from rounding him by collecting at the forward’s feet. The second-half would see wortley increase the pressure on the visitors; Brandon Hiller firing an early warning with a fierce shot. A free-kick by Paulinho Santos would have them level on 65 minutes as Housham was left flat-footed and Hiller might have put the league leaders in front but his header hit the angle. Santos hit a further free-kick over the bar and the Mojos held on for a hard-earned point to dent the home side’s title challenge. Joshy was pleased that ‘none of (his) players are going to retire’ before adding that he ‘got (his) tactics spot on today.’ Thegreatlordbags’ side face another stern test of their title credentials when they visit Morley on Tuesday and the coach will recognise how important the win is with Gooners still on their trail.

Gooners narrowed the gap to one point with a routine 5-0 home victory over Norfolk N Chance. Gilberto Silva opened the scoring on two minutes with a powerful strike in the area and it was nearly 2-0 when Kevin Campbell lobbed Clemens but his effort came back off the angle. Iain Wright would make it 2-0 on nine minutes with an accurate header and the forward doubled his tally moments later with a spectacular diving header. Silva followed suit with a brilliant header of his own to make it 4-0 on 15 minutes and although Klyde Krippner had a half-volley go close at the other end it was a one-sided contest. Wright failed to net his hat-trick goal on 28 minutes as he put a powerful low shot wide but it would be 5-0 when a similarly powerful strike by Sylvain Wiltord found the net. The second-half had no goalmouth action but the Gooners could be satisfied with another comprehensive victory. After the win FMRealism admitted that the ‘real fun begins now’ as his side embark on three matches against the other members of the top four. Howemiester is now coming to the focal point of his season and the next stage of their development will be unfolding very soon.

Dream Team put themselves back into the top three as they defeated Morley Town 1-0 at the Stadium of Dreams. The game was light on chances but Dream Team had an early Dudley Dream free-kick punched away by Zubeldia as they looked to force the pace. Morley fought back but Dustin Wotton couldn’t put his shot anywhere near the target and the sides would go in level at the break. There would only be one further chance after the break but it would be enough for Dream Team to score the winning goal; Garry Greed powerfully driving in a shot from distance on 67 minutes to seal the win. The win was met by an interesting reaction from Dream Team’s manager as he claimed that he ‘didn’t set tactics in order to lose.’ A curious admission considering the side are now in third and in with every chance of promotion. Leeg21 will need his side to bounce back on Tuesday but they face tough opposition in the shape of Gooners.

1863 Munich had to settle for a point in a 2-2 home draw with Cressex but remained comfortably in fifth-place. A free-kick on seven minutes saw Stephane Aoudou fire the hosts into the lead but Cressex quickly levelled through a powerful header by Cabbar Saatcioglu. Lionel Monk wasted the chance to put Munich back in front and they would then find themselves 2-1 sown as Trygvvi Valsson converted a penalty for Cressex. Clooney would keep Cressex ahead shortly afterwards as he saved excellently from Fabrizio Gualtieri’s toe-poke. Gualtieri would have the final say before half-time, though, as he put the finishing touch on a fast breakaway to ensure parity at the interval. Cressex enjoyed the first chance of the second-half but Saatcioglu had nothing but bad luck as his strike hit the woodwork on its way to safety. Both sides would have a further chance to win the game but neither Jonathon Draper nor Douglas Wallberg could get their efforts on target for the respective teams. Anderson will be slowly turning his attention to next season and moulding the squad into the shape he wants after taking over this term. Villan_RAS will also need to start finalising plans for how he intends to progress his side after a season of mediocrity at Cressex Astro.

Rolling Thunder put together an impressive away performance to defeat Alsancak 3-1 and give their fans a massive boost. Bojan Krkic headed in the opener in the very first minute to give Thunder the lead and Erland Hangeland thumped home a free-kick on 11 minutes to double that advantage. Francois Rouland would see a header held by Frost as Thunder looked to extend the lead and Krkic also had a shot saved. Alsancak were nearly boosted by a dangerous Ezequiel Garay back pass while Andrew Taylor also had a free-kick saved. Fabrice Muamba would also have a shot held by Jorquera before Danny Rose volleyed in to give them hope just before half-time. The second-half saw Alsancak fall a further goal behind as Rouland headed in on 65 minutes for the impressive visitors. The home side would come on strong in the final stages but would suffer in front of goal. Fraizer Campbell had a lob tipped over by Jorquera and the ‘keeper also punched away an Eoghan Millar shot. Muamba would complete the home side’s misery by shooting wide with the final chance of the game as they slipped to a 3-1 home defeat. Vehusheia appears to have his Thunder side moving in the right direction following this win and with form looking up the fans will be hopeful of a strong showing next term. Wienersnitzel won’t be too concerned by the loss with his side looking ahead of schedule in their development.

Jammas AllStars and EspAda showed impressive composure in front of goal as the sides drew 2-2 at Jamford Bridge. The visitors struck first as an excellent volley by Zinhi Demiray found its way past Frezzolini and they were unlucky not to make it 2-0 as Andreas Sommer powered a header against a post. Sommer would find more misfortune as another header hit the angle and a free-kick by Margrott Ashdown would level the scores before the break. The AllStars would score quickly after the break as Ruud Olfers calmly slotted past Newell to put the hosts 2-1 ahead. EspAda wouldn’t lie down, though, and Geoffrey Stiles finished well following a dangerous corner by Demiray. The home side would have a chance to win the game but Olfers was denied by Newell and the game deservedly finished in a draw. Jamma will be looking for a positive finish to the season to provide optimism ahead of next term and it will be a similar case for Malteseexpert following an up-and-down campaign.
