Gooners In Cruise Control

Gooners played a team of mainly reserves against Cressex in the last round and came away with the win they desired to hold the second spot. Although as predicted by the boss Cressex did cause them some problems, without their legendary back four to strengthen their defence they let Cressex on to the score sheet. Gooners did score five with Wiltord grabbing his first of the season but they were close to yet another record of least goals conceded in a season so the manager will be working with his young defenders before the Norfolk game as he plans to send all the young guns out!

There is also the prize for the most goals to go for and scoring as many as possible in this game wont do them any harm at all so we predict an attacking line up. Although they will be missing their striker in hot form Thierry Henry who received a one game suspension. Many beleive he was under instructions to get the ban so he will be a certainty to play both the Dream Team and Morley games... if so it would be a plan gone perfectly and a major boost to their title dreams.

We finally caught up with the elusive manager after a he made all the front pages for all the wrong reasons heres what he had to say for himself:

In response to all the recent press id like to say the story was blown out of proportion, i certainly havent lost the plot! Why did i bet against my own team.. well il tell you, had we of lost against Cressex fielding an inexperienced side away from home , we would have needed the funds/winnings to make sure of victory in all our important coming fixtures. As it turned out i lost that bet and have no regrets in losing or placing it... i have total faith in my young players (ahem) which is why i will field all of them in the next fixture.

As for the Henry saga its merely coincidence he will serve his ban against Norfolk and i played no part in this (ahem). As for the new player names i agreed with the players to make this change after season ended but in my eyes they are all already legends and as such deserved legendary names, the only player not to accept my generous offer was Kyle Lang but then as we all know he can be a moody git!

I would like to take this opportunity to announce we have agreed new contracts with all our players and looking ahed to next season, i have no problems in saying we can fear no one and should have another amazing season! I dont know what the odds are of us winning both titles but it might just be worth a flutter, as we move towards end of season we have some players on fantastic form and you may some big leaps in skill at the end of the season. Its my job to make sure they all have enough experience to step up to Div 2 and its currently something that takes up alot of the time spent with the team. As for the next round im very excited to see what the future of Gooners can produce and after that fixture its an exciting time for everyone involved in the club... especially me, remember im very early in my career and to win a title in this fashion so early would be massive.
