Pink Bus Riders FC dealt a blow to Morley’s title hopes with a 2-0 home success. With the Bus Riders getting used to Killie’s managerial style the home fans were hopeful of taking a major scalp and things would work out for them. A penalty would set the home side on their way with Turlough Daly slotting home on six minutes. Zacharias Ashe tried to respond for the visitors but his header was punched away by Paraiala. The second-half would see a greater number of chances, the first of which fell to Eliott Malloy but his half-volley was saved by Gaughan. Adolf Munzberg nearly levelled for Morley but he saw his curled shot hit the bar and they were dealt a hammer blow moments later as Daly headed in a powerful effort to double the hosts’ lead. Fabrizio Gualtieri would put a free-kick over for the hosts before Munzberg offered little threat to the ‘keeper from another set-piece at the other end. Killie_gers was in a good mood afterwards, claiming ‘this RMI carry on is a doddle.’ Despite the loss Morley could celebrate their promotion to the next tier but Leeg21 will still have his eyes on the main prize of the title.
EspAda couldn’t really capitalise on Morley’s demise as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Crimson Tigers. Following a defeat last time out the Tigers knew they would have to dig deep to stay in control of their promotion destiny. It would prove to be a tight game with just a chance for either side in the opening 45 minutes. The Tigers had the first effort but Marcelo Argello put a free-kick too close to Kerrigan however the visitors couldn’t capitalise as Frederik Smit put a shot well-over. The second-half saw both chances fall the way of EspAda with Andreas Sommer missing with one free-kick chance before he saw another late set-piece held by Gow. Ultimately both sides would have to be happy with a point and for Crismorena this signalled his side’s promotion to Division Two which will, no doubt, see a few celebrations tonight. Paulc333 will still have his heart set on joining EspAda in a division higher but has a little bit of work to do yet.
Anime stayed four points off the promotion pace as they drew 2-2 at AFC Boo Boys. With Boo Boys playing pressure free football now they looked the more relaxed of the sides to begin with but Anime’s desire would see a dramatic comeback. Ignacio Delao would volley the hosts into a lead on four minutes with a brilliant effort and Torben Kummel was centimetres away from making it 2-0 on 22 minutes. Sonsaku Hakufu did have a diving header go close for the visitors but they would go in behind. Dan Scuderi would quickly have Boo Boys 2-0 ahead after the interval with a clinical header, leaving Anime with it all to do. It might even have been worse but Derek Armstrong missed a headed chance and the visitors launched a thrilling fight-back. Colin Crouch had already seen a header go close by the time Kuriko Kazetsubaki headed home a chance of her own. Then, deep into stoppage-time, Anime were awarded a penalty which Naru Narusegawa slotted home showing nerves of steel. Joshy will be delighted with his side’s resilience but will recognise the need to back this up with three points at home to Reggae on Friday. Skoolyou will be making notes on his side ahead of the new season so they can build on the promising parts of this one.
FCR Cressex would enjoy a 5-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in an end-of-season encounter at Cressex Astro. With neither side pulling up any trees this term the fans arrived at the ground more in hope than expectation but at least the home ones would go away happy. Theo Gronlund put a diving header well-over for the hosts on 18 minutes while Ledley King lobbed over as the sides traded chances. A free-kick on 27 minutes saw Emil Rojas’ effort saved by Alevelin while Robbie Keane headed wide as the pattern continued. Keane would then see a further effort go over and Spurs would find themselves behind as Dan-Ake Rothflod produced a clinical finish in the area to shoot Cressex ahead. The second-half saw the home side dominate proceedings with Cabbar Saatcioglu hitting home a half-volley on 47 minutes to make it 2-0. Gronlund would swiftly lob in a third as Spurs started to look ragged and Tomas Tiribocchi flicked home a header on the hour to make it 4-0. Keane did see a lob go over at the other end but it would be the hosts who would net again as Saatcioglu shot home from inside the area. Villan_RAS will be buoyed by his side’s win and hope it signals more to come next season. Ocs will have written this one off long ago and his side look odds-on to finish the season at the foot of the table.
Rolling Thunder would also enjoy a big win as they defeated St Omer 5-2 at Cloud Nine. With both sides in a development stage ahead of the new season the fans came expecting some open football and they wouldn’t be disappointed. Jovan Gagic saw an early diving header saved by Rain before Ludo Cappellacci shot wide as Thunder pressed. It would be Omer, however, who would open the scoring with Dennis Bogarde thumping in on 31 minutes. John Obi Mikel would make sure the lead was short-lived, though, as he neatly finished a breakaway move before Marcel Holub put a header just over. Ezequiel Garay would complete the turnaround before the interval with a smart toe-poke and when Gagic headed home after a corner Thunder were in complete control. The second-half started badly for Omer with Roderick Jacobs deflecting the ball into his own goal although Bogarde did head home on 62 minutes to reduce the deficit to two once more. However, Gagic would lob home a fifth for the hosts before Mikel put a header just over the bar. This would prove the last of the chances but Thunder went away more than happy with the three points. Both Vehusheia and CT will be focusing entirely on the change report and the results of which will surely determine their plans for next season.
Reggae Reggae Sauce would enjoy a rare win as they defeated Alsancak 1-0 at Sauce Bottle Arena. With Alsancak seeing their promotion hopes slide they knew this was a must-win game but they would come up short against Sauce. They would have the first chance of the game but Andrew Taylor’s free-kick was well-wide. Wayne Mardle would have a header saved at the other end before Fraizer Campbell produced a wayward finish on 37 minutes and the sides would go in deadlocked. The second-half opened with Gabriel Agbonlahor shooting wide for Alsancak and they would then find themselves behind as a powerful strike by Burim Mejdani found the net. Miles Beckett would try and respond in kind for the visitors but his powerful shot was saved by Mullen and this signalled a fine win for the home side. Xpertelevener will no doubt be delighted with his side’s win and the fact that they are off the foot of the table. Wienersnitzel will now be focused solely on the change report following a campaign where his side came up just short.
