Title Triumph for RDCM

These Charming Men took the Division Two title with a 3-0 home success over Special Ones MKII. With Special Ones looking ahead towards next season the home side’s extra drive promised to give them an edge in this match and it would play out in such a fashion. TCM would get the first goal of the game on 18 minutes courtesy of a fine header by Chano Delgado and they were nearly two-up moments later as Constantino Gris tested the woodwork with a steered effort. Rick Tuttle did briefly threaten at the other end but saw his steered shot go well-over and TCM re-established control. Ramon Vicente headed them into a 2-0 lead on 26 minutes and he would quickly add another header to put them 3-0 up and firmly in control at the break. There would just be one further chance after the break with Delgado brushing a post with a header. TCM would celebrate on hearing Ann Onym’s final whistle and RDCM exclaimed that he hoped ‘his side could go for back-to-back promotions.’ Aj will be confident about his side ahead of his first season in charge and they are sure to be challengers.

Bully Boys enjoyed a strong home outing to steal a march on Legends thanks to a 2-0 win. With Legends in possession of one of the promotion places, the home side knew they had to pull out a big performance and they wouldn’t disappoint. Dominic Smythe put an early volley wide but Bully Boys did hit the front on 22 minutes courtesy of a cracking strike by Tero Perotie from a tight angle. Marco van Basten did see a goal chalked off at the other end and the home side would remain in front at the break. The second-half began with a Smythe header which went straight at Buffon before he did then steer in the second of the day just after the hour. Zinedine Zidane curled a shot wide at the other end before Berti Behrends couldn’t test Buffon with a header. Zidane would see a mishit shot strike a post and the Boys would then finish the stronger. Behrends would loop a header over before Smythe saw a volley saved by Buffon. There was still time for Oskari Aniainen to have a header saved but Bully Boys would be deserved winners. Cath burst into song at the end of the game and a routine win at home to Juventus will see them into Division One for next season. @peace will have to hope for a slip-up from Gooners or Bully Boys going into the final game but whatever happens they will be well-placed for next season.

Gooners would also strike an important blow in the battle for the top three by defeating Bayern Munchen 3-1 at Highbury. With Munchen a step ahead of Gooners before the game it had the makings of a must-win for the home side and they wouldn’t disappoint. Thierry Henry went close early on with a back heel which smashed against the bar and Gooners would then feel more disappointment as Leonardo Borja had a strike ruled out. Munchen would reply with a Billy Bob free-kick but it would be easily caught and Dennis Bergkamp then put a lob over for the hosts. Bergkamp would go closer with a volley but it would be held by Syvaluoma who would then excel himself by saving from Borja’s well-placed header. The second-half would provide even more goalmouth action with Bob having an early free-kick saved for the visitors. Borja would open the scoring for the hosts, though, with a powerful strike from distance and Bergkamp went close to making it two with a powerful shot which went just wide. Another Bob free-kick saw the forward shoot just wide while Gooners nearly added a second but Borja’s header struck a post. Henry would make it two moments later with a clever finish following a breakaway before Cesc Fabregas had a side-footed shot saved. Uncle Sam was denied a goal for Munich and Fabregas then made it 3-0 with a powerful shot from distance. Munchen would grab a consolation courtesy of a Billy Ray Bongle back heel but when Bob failed to net from another free-kick you sensed their chance had gone. Adriano Pelizzoli did see a shot strike a post but they had run out of time and seen the race for promotion tighten up. FMR was confident that his side would finish the job emphatically at PSV on Tuesday and then they will set about building a side capable of winning Division One. Dimentis will need to gather his troops for one final surge and a win at Legends might yet see them promoted to a higher tier.

Wortley ensured safety in Division Two with a 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven. With the visitors already relegated the home side looked to take advantage and they would secure the win they needed. Claudio Collauto hit a post with a fine free-kick on 25 minutes for the visitors but they would be behind five minutes later as Curt Pryor thundered in from distance to the delight of the home fans. Jake Shiver began the second-half with a strike which went wide before Pryor toe-poked off-target as the hosts pressed. PSV saw Frans Haggbring have a shot saved before Collauto’s free-kick went wide. Both sides engineered a late chance each with Collauto hitting the bar for PSV while Pryor got a lob all-wrong for the hosts. Ultimately the points would belong to the hosts and Thegtreatlordbags will be proud of his achievements in keeping his side in Division Two for another season. Kadri will be looking forward to the season end on Tuesday so he can begin his plans for the new campaign.

Abu Dhabi United would relegate The Kings by defeating them 3-0 at home. With United comfortable in the table they went into the game relaxed and this would show in their football. Claudio Moura powered an early shot against the angle before Amjad Abdali skimmed a chip over as United pressed. Jack Wilshere would duly put them in front with an excellent header on 24 minutes before Allan Akerboom put a lob over as the visitors looked to respond. Regillio Jordan nearly gave them more to do with a free-kick which struck the bar but the half-time score would remain 1-0. A penalty at the start of the second-half saw Jonathan Boulding make it 2-0 for the hosts and Jordan might have done better from a free-kick minutes later. Paul Bracewell had a header saved for The Kings and they were then indebted to Fitzsimmons for denying Abdali. Abdali would get his goal on 78 minutes with a super volley in the area and it might have been 4-0 but Moura hit the bar with a cute chip. It wouldn’t matter, though, as United recorded a comfortable victory which Tal called ‘unexpected.’ Hitman will have to pick up his side for the task of promotion now their relegation is confirmed.

Crimea River would also relegate a side as Juventus paid the price for a heavy 3-0 home defeat. With River looking to build for the future they looked a cut above their rudder-less rivals in this contest. Andrey Arshavin wasted an early attempt for the visitors who then saw Alex Song head wide late in the half. The second 45 minutes would be improved with Vivien Tchameni going close with an early strike while Jacobo Chacros found Fabianski well-placed from a free-kick at the other end. Tchameni would open the scoring on 54 minutes with a powerful header for Crimea and he nearly made it two on the hour but his shot went wide. Fran Merida saw a diving header nearly find the net but River would be 2-0 up moments later courtesy of a powerful header by Arshavin. A penalty on 71 minutes saw Marcel Desailly net with a minimum of fuss while Chacros hit a tame free-kick for the hosts. Tchameni would miss with a flick header while Tomas Rosicky put a further header over the bar as the visitors threatened more goals. The best the hosts could do would be another free-kick but Chacros would fail to net and they would end up comfortably beaten. Ith will be happy with the professionalism of his side and he will hope for a decent change report ahead of next season. SuperJuve is surely on borrowed time at Juventus and the club’s fans will hope the club can appoint a new manager to take them forward.
