Legends Fire into Top 3

Legends won the big clash in Division Two’s promotion battle as they edged Gooners 2-1 at Stadium of Dreams. With both brothers looking for promotion to cap an exciting season this looked like a game neither dared to lose but the points would fall the way of the home side. The first-half was relatively cagey with only a free-kick by Ruud Gullit which went wide of any attacking note. The second-half would open up and saw Nicolas Anelka give Gooners the lead with an excellent header. Legends would respond quickly, though, with Alan Hansen toe-poking home in the area and when Gullit saw a free-kick saved the home side had the initiative. Gullit would test Seaman once more just after the hour while Anelka hit a tame shot at Buffon at the other end. The key moment arrived an 73 minutes as the unfortunate Lee Dixon headed into his own goal to give Legends a 2-1 lead. Kyle Lang did try to level but his half-volley was saved while Gullit failed to find the target with a free-kick on 87 minutes once more. There was still time for Anelka to have once last effort and he nearly ensured a draw but Buffon made an exceptional save to secure the points for Legends. @peace finally has his side in the top three and said he ‘feels (they) must go up.’ FMR is still in confident mood and has written off Bayern Munchen’s promotion chances ahead of their crunch match on Friday.

These Charming Men remained on course for the title with a 2-0 away success at relegation-haunted Juventus. With SuperJuve neglecting his duties, TCM were confident of victory going into the contest and they would ease to victory. TCM began strongly and Stuart Cooksey saw a half-volley saved before heading home the opener on nine minutes. Three minutes later and it was 2-0 courtesy of a Cooksey chip to give TCM a stranglehold on things. Obadele Eliakwu would shoot wide for the hosts in response before Jacobo Chacros also put a free-kick just over. Mauricio Capdevlia would see a header go over before Cooksey did likewise with a toe-poke as chances kept coming at both ends. Indeed, Chacros would brush a post with a free-kick on 38 minutes as the action continued up to half-time. TCM began the second-half with a Chano Delgado header which needed saving while Chacros put a diving header wide at the other end. A quiet period would ensue before a free-kick on 90 minutes saw Tord Jakobson test Tonetto. Ultimately, it wouldn’t matter as the visiting side had secured a crucial three points on route to what they hope will be a first title. RDCM indicated that he thought ‘one more win would be enough’ and a home match against Special Ones MKII gives them their first chance on Friday. SuperJuve will be unaware that his side is staring relegation in the face and the club will be thinking about changes come the silly-season.

FC Bayern Munchen continued their inspired run with a 5-0 home win over wortley. With points just as important to them both for differing reasons this match had it all but in the end would be a comfortable home victory. Adriano Pelizzoli would flick a header home on 23 minutes to give Munchen a platform from which to build. Pelizzoli would have the chance to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time but his header lacked the necessary power and 1-0 remained the score. Wortley’s troubles worsened on 51 minutes with Orlando Bhoendie seeing red for brutal play and Salamao Godiz then put through his own goal to worsen the nightmare. Brandon Hiller did have a shot saved for wortley but Munchen would finish strongly despite Bob Country being sent-off for dangerous play. Billy Ray Bongle steered in a third on 67 minutes and when Billy Bob delivered a stunning free-kick a minute later Munchen were in cruise control. Pelizzoli went close with a powerful low shot but he did have his second of the day as he headed beyond Gareth on 75 minutes. Bob would toe-poke a late effort over but it would prove immaterial as they saw out time on a 5-0 triumph. Dimentis now faces his toughest challenge of late with a trip to Gooners but he knows if he can mastermind a victory promotion will be theirs. Thegtreatlordbags also faces a massive match for his side as they entertain PSV Eindhoven knowing a victory will infinitely boost their survival hopes.

Bully Boys continued their recent troubles as they went down to a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Crimea River. With River looking ahead to next term the visitors were hopeful their extra desire would take them to victory but it wouldn’t play out that way. The first chance took a while to arrive but Samir Nasri made the most of it with a fine header to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Andrey Arshavin would steer their next effort wide as the half-time whistle arrived with Crimea just a goal ahead. The second-half opened with Vivien Tchameni heading the hosts into a 2-0 lead before Dominic Smythe blasted a shot wide at the other end. Ike Dyer would see a diving header repelled and you would sense it wasn’t going to be their day. Gael Clichy brought an excellent save out of Kangashaka from a powerful shot before Valio Kapiala wasted a free-kick for BB. Berti Behrends did see a goal chalked off for the visitors and when Carl Spegel powered in a shot for River the visitor’s misery was completed. Ith will be hopeful of a promising future for his side following this performance and they will look to finish the season on a high. Cath maintains the faith that his side ‘will be promoted’ and they will go a long way to achieving this if they can defeat Legends next.

The Kings missed a chance to move out of the bottom three as they were held to a 0-0 draw at already-relegated PSV Eindhoven. In truth, it would be the home side who would look like the side with more on the line as they took the game to their struggling visitors. Claudio Collauto put a free-kick wide before Arjen can Loenhout saw a mishit shot strike a post as the hosts began well. Timmy Simons then saw Fitzsimmons save his shot as the half-time whistle came with the score deadlocked. Eindhoven would continue on the front foot after the break with van Loenhout going close before Collauto wasted a glorious chance by putting a penalty over. Collauto would then put a free-kick wide before The Kings saw Otis Dove head too close to Reina from their only chance of the game. Kadri will see this as another good performance in a promising season and he will look forward to hsi change report rewards. Hitman will now hope his side can overcome Abu Dhabi on their travels as they look to overtake wortley and escape the dreaded drop.

Special Ones and Abu Dhabi would play out a 1-1 draw in the other game of the division. With both sides sitting in mid-table a pressure-free encounter was played out. Ilppo Visavuori put a powerful low shot wide as Abu Dhabi enjoyed the first chance of the game. Visavuori would also waste a headed chance on 26 minutes before Ricky Routhledge hit home a half-volley to put the hosts ahead from their first chance. This would remain the score at the interval but Abu Dhabi would fight back well after the break. Ruaidri Dunloe levelled matters with a fine header on 52 minutes before Amjad Abdali hit a post with another header a little while later. United still had time for another chance but Madalin Dovleac put a header off-target and they had to settle for a point. Tal claimed the ‘remainder of the season would be fun’ as his side played relegation-threatened sides while Aj can affect events at the other end of the table as his side face up to TCM next.
