Gooner Go For It!

Gooners were dealt a cruel blow against an uninventive Wortley side, Gooners controlled all the possession and looked comfortable throughout. The game was decided by the referee who seemed a bit of a homer, FMR blasted the wortley coach as lucky, boring, predictable and without any creative flair. New signing Borja dealt out some form of justice when he scored the equalizer, it was little in the form of consaltion though... the final score two a peice. Overmars had an opportunity to score the winner and which he wasted and will need to start delivering the goods next season to cement a place in what looks to be what can only be described as an exciting midfield line up.

Gooners boss had this to say about the season so far:

"Yes lady luck strikes again, Wortley the most undeserving champions of a division ever... have cursed our season yet again! I mean this guy plays 442 constantly the fact we got everything tactically correct is no big suprise, I feel sorry for their players untrained, without license to play in a one dimensional setup... yawn. My only hope is that the point we stole will see them return to division three, I did everything correctly in that game in terms of preparation, I feel comfortable that there is nothing more I could have done. That is the nature of the game and thankfully we live on to fight another day!

With that said our midfield didnt perform and that needs looking into, they were all in good form and had loads of the ball! It was Bergkamps 100th game and we didn't make a big deal of it as to keep the pressure off him, as it turned out he had the run of the park and played maybe his worst game ever. It is quite an acheivement though and apart from that blip he has been by far our best player this season, you could argue every season.

What now? Well we take the fight to Dream Team in the next round a win there should secure promotion and maybe keep us in the hunt for the title, We still have some targets to aim for and by no means can we let our heads go down now. Should we lose to Dream Team who are in the best form of any team I have come accross in my short career then we still have a chance to hoist ourselves back in the remaining two fixtures... it's all still to play for. The lads have been training hard and we look good in all departments form wise but I think it will take an outstanding performance from somewhere to win this game at their place. Myself and @peace have spoken at some length already about what may be and I have his word should I need good results from him, I can be sure that he has done everything possible to keep us in the hunt for division one football.

Should the unthinkable happen and we dont make the cut... it will be no disaster and we look very strong next season and would begin the season as big favourites, I feel. There also maybe more opportunity for our young players to improve in division two under the new rules that would be in place... eg they will play alot more. It is probably a win win situation, our focus has been on development since mid season and looking at Dream Team I feel that I have made the correct calls this season. We will continue to try to make the right decisions on how we take steps forward, as the biggest challenge we face is keeping pace with those teams that are already well established. If we were not to go up this season would I be suprised to pass some of the teams that did on our way up the season after.... probably not. As previously mentioned though everything is still to play for and all we can do now is give it our best shot!"
