Mighty Mojos threw a spanner in the works of Dream Team’s title hopes with a 1-0 victory at Mojo Arena. DT would see an early Dudley Dream header saved by Housham before Warren Wish put his headed effort wide. Michel Montolio would miss the target for the Mojos with their first effort and the trend of poor finishing continued as Ronaldo Ready wasted a free-kick on 36 minutes. Dream would find the net with a fine volley three minutes later but it was disallowed for an earlier handball and the sides went in goalless at the interval. A Mojos free-kick started the second-half but Delirious was the equal to Phillip Williams’ effort while the midfielder would then chip a further effort over the bar. Williams was given another chance from a set-piece but Delirious smothered the ball to keep DT level. Alvin Dideah was the next to try his luck but his powerful shot narrowly missed while Ready did likewise with a free-kick at the other end. Max Merry would then force Housham into a leg save as DT started to find some attacking rhythm. However, the Mojos would hit back and Montolio’s chip needed tipping over by Delirious before a well-placed shot by Timotei Buta smashed against a post. Mil Moody’s volley went over at the other end and the decisive moment would come in injury-time; Buta hitting home a stunning strike from inside the area to put the Mojos ahead. Adam Aspire wasted a late chance to level the game for DT and they would slip to a damaging defeat. Joshy credited his side for the win and added that ‘they looked like the side chasing promotion.’ The defeat leaves MrJ’s side five points off first but he was quick to describe Mojos’ win as ‘very lucky.’
Wortley kept hold of first with an easy 6-0 home victory over Norfolk. Brandon Hiller had an early lob go over while Norfolk’s response was a Crofton Scyles header which needed saving by Gareth. Paulinho Santos would then give wortley the lead with an accurate header and he repeated the dose on 10 minutes to put them 2-0 up. Curt Pryor placed a neat finish past Clemens for 3-0 and it was nearly four as Hiller brushed a post with a powerful shot. The pressure continued as Hiller chipped in the fourth goal on 22 minutes and the forward added another with a stunning diving header on 37 minutes. Montel Bustarmante had a lobbed header saved at the other end as Norfolk would go in five goals behind. The second-half was dull in comparison but Quincy Bowey did make it 6-0 with a powerful effort from distance. Norfolk’s chance was missed as Andy Howe put a lob over to complete another game without a win. Thegreatlordbags now takes his side into the crucial period of the season knowing if they come out favourably in games against the other three in the top four they will be a step closer to the title. Howemiester is in the home stretch as far as the season goes and the fans will be looking forward to seeing how the players progress in the change.
Gooners put together another all-round performance to defeat Jammas AllStars 4-0 at Highbury. Otto Finnan gave them an early boost with a brilliant diving header which put them a goal up. Broderick Shilton missed with a lob before Graeme Coote followed Finnan’s example with another diving header to double the advantage. Yanuar Kembung couldn’t find the target with his strike but the Gooners were fully in control. This was further emphasised when Sonny Baron fired in the third from inside the penalty area and the half was complete when Andres Iniesta headed in from a well-delivered corner. With all the hard work done Gooners played out the second-half in a controlled fashion to keep AllStars chanceless at the other end. FMRealism described the game as ‘business as usual’ as the side keep up their brilliant unbeaten record. AllStars are still in their infancy and Jamma won’t be too concerned with results for the remainder of this term.
Morley Town kept close order at the top with a 2-0 victory over Cressex. Florian Arnautu chipped home from inside the penalty area to give them a fourth minute lead. Cressex weren’t without chances but Lauro Poggi wasted their first when he put his header off-target. Arnautu would miss a further chip before having a shot saved by Ikhala as Morley’s attempts for a second goal were thwarted. Gaughan maintained their lead, though, as he tipped over Poggi’s header on 38 minutes. The second-half followed a similar pattern with chances at either end but again Cressex would waste theirs as Dan-Ake Rothflod lobbed over. Arnautu proved the thorn in the side of the visitors again on 82 minutes by finishing off a breakaway move to double their lead. Art Boyle might have made it 3-0 a minute later but his shot from a tight angle was disallowed for handball. Dustin Wotton then flicked a header straight at Ikhala before he then shot straight at the ‘keeper when he was presented with another chance. Cressex would keep working until the final whistle despite their deficit and Douglas Wallberg had a driving shot saved in injury-time. Leeg21’s side remain on the outside looking in but will be hopeful of improving their position with a game against Norfolk on Tuesday. Villan_RAS will have been heartened by the display and hope signs of progress continue ahead of next term.
1863 Munich kept a grip of fifth-place with a 3-1 win at Rolling Thunder. Erland Hangeland put an early free-kick over for the hsots before Marcel Holub’s header went straight at Blacksmith as Thunder responded to Vehusheia’s pre-match team talk. However, Munich would get into their stride and a clinical strike from Eliott Malloy gave them a 16th minute lead. Thunder would see Jovan Gagic miss from distance but would draw level as Marcelo da Silva netted from the spot. Fabrizio Gualtieri missed a late headed chance for Munich and the sides would go in level. Munich would be much-improved after the interval and took control of the game. A breakaway saw Stephane Aoudou round Jorquera to put Munich 2-1 ahead before the midfielder settled the game in the last ten minutes. He would enjoy a hat-trick of free-kick chances with the first one missing the target. His second effort would be too close to Jorquera but the midfield maestro would eventually get his reward by thumping in an 88th minute set-piece to settle the game. Anderson declared himself ‘delighted with the win’ but added that the injury to Ballotta ‘tarnished’ the day. The first-half performance will have been a major positive for Vehusheia and there will be good results round the corner if they can build on it.
Alsancak put together another impressive 90 minutes to leave EspAda defeated 2-0 at Mosquito Alley. Fraizer Campbell put an early header well-wide for the hosts before Frederik Smit did likewise at the other end. Lee Cattermole would see Newell save from his looping header while Smit was denied by Preoteasa as the game continued to ebb-and-flow. Alsancak would make the crucial breakthrough on 27 minutes, though, as Richard Stearman headed beyond Newell and into the far corner. This lead would be doubled before the break with Campbell defying a tight angle to rifle home and send the home fans into wild celebrations. The second-half saw just the one chance and it would fall to the visitors late on. However, Daniel Brewster couldn’t direct his flick header onto the target and EspAda would fall to a 2-0 defeat. Wienersnitzel’s side continue to defy their youthfulness and if they can also obtain a good change the season will have been a major success. Malteseexpert’s side continue to fluctuate depending on their manager’s time and this will result in a lower-to-mid-table side for the foreseeable future.
