Sorry Amateurs Lose Again

The Yorkshire Amateurs were on the wrong side of a 4-1 drubbing against New York City. A combination of downright bad luck, poor finishing and awful defending saw The Amateurs suffer a heavy, morale sapping defeat.Had Fred Franklin scored his 21st minute penalty the game may have looked very different but a nervous looking Franklin saw his penalty saved. The Amateurs then had a second half goal disallowed and then lost the services of influential defender Vince Brightwell to injury. His presence was missed badly as the Amateurs conceded three goals in the final 6 minutes, a somewhat flattering score line for New York City but in truth they were the better side.Again, the Amateurs inability to hit the back of the net has cost them dearly and the games don’t get much easier as they host form side West Brom Strollers next.
