Cressex Crushed at Crazy Town

Bonkers remained on course for promotion with a 6-1 thumping of Cressex at Crazy Town. The goal frenzy started early with Mortimer Wainman side-footing home in the first minute to give the hosts the lead. Cressex tried to hit back but Douglas Wallberg saw his half-volley saved by Hawke while Wainman remained dangerous at the other end with a curled effort which was stopped by Stoker. Pietro Grimaldi thumped a driving shot wide for Cressex before their troubles doubled with Garry Maynard shooting home from inside the penalty area on 12 minutes. It was quickly 3-0 as Philip Calderwood hit a stunning volley from distance on 15 minutes and nine minutes late Stefan Beelenkamp curled in a free-kick to leave Cressex stunned. Tomas Tiribocchi did curl a shot in for the visitors to reduce the deficit to three and they had a chance to make it 4-2 but Carasario Falcioni couldn’t direct his effort on target. Wainman hit a half-volley well-wide with the last effort of the first-half but despite this the home side would go in the happier of the two teams. The second-half had little action until late on with Beelenkamp thumping in another free-kick to make it 5-1 and then completing a stunning hat-trick with a delightful lob minutes later. Bonkers News claimed the team ‘is buzzing with excitement’ and who can blame them as they score goals for fun and sit at the top of the table. Cressex slip into the relegation zone on the back of this defeat but they will know that matches won’t come much tougher than Bonkers away.

Keeping in touch with Bonkers are the unrelenting White Hawk FC who have now won four straight after a 2-0 home victory over Bill Murray FC. The game was marred by serious injuries to Martin Keown and Cianan Cathan as both sides had to reshuffle. The home side would cope the better, though, and saw their hard work pay off during an impressive second-half. Adan Donahue went within inches of opening the scoring before a Matts Perman header did give them a 56th minute lead. A minute later and Donahue might have doubled the lead but sent his free-kick wide. He would enjoy a quick chance at redemption, though, as his team were awarded a 59th minute penalty and he made no mistake in giving his team a 2-0 lead. With the visitors unable to create anything themselves the defeat might have been heavier but Donahue enjoyed no luck with a free-kick which struck a post and the final score remained 2-0. Hawk are five points clear of fourth and while promotion remains their number one priority they will still be looking at overhauling the leading Bonkers. CM will be assessing his side ahead of his first full season in charge and they might still force themselves into the promotion race if they can put a late run together.

The Lone Wanderers are the third team in the promotion area after a 6-0 home win over Norfolk N Chance. The result was never really in any doubt once a lob by Mart Rosbottom found the corner of the net on three minutes. William MacAvish hit a post with a fine strike on 10 minutes and the forward would then see a driving shot well-held by Olausson. Arsim Kule did make it 2-0 with a diving header and MacAvish eventually got his goal with a cool finish from a breakaway move. It was 4-0 on 24 minutes as a diving header by Albert Scully proved too much for Olausson and Rosbottom added his second by coolly rounding the ‘keeper on 34 minutes to give his side a 5-0 half-time lead. The second-half proved a much quieter affair with just the one chance. It fell to the home side as MacAvish curled home his second of the game to complete a 6-0 home victory. HH had words of praise for Howemiester’s approach to the game saying he has ‘a will of iron and a heart of steel.’ All of the Wanderers are now focusing on their match with Bonkers in what is being billed as ‘the game of the season.’ A Wanderers win and the title race will be blown wide open. As for Norfolk the season’s success will be decided by the change report with the league looking on to see if the youngsters have developed as hoped.

These Charming Men are still in the promotion race after a dramatic 3-3 draw at Los Samgeles Kings. Lorn Rajabi gave the visitors a flying start with a stunning header on two minutes and they might have doubled their advantage but Linus Streicher had a header saved. Chano Delgado would put them 2-0 up however as he drove in a shot from distance. To their credit the Kings wouldn’t let this poor start get them down and Evgeni Malkin halved the deficit by finishing a swift breakaway on 18 minutes. Dan Scuderi might have levelled matters before the break but his header hit the bar. The second-half saw TCM start well and they re-established their two goal lead with a Delgado header looping in on 51 minutes. Jorge Carril might have made it 4-1 but his free-kick smacked into a post while Rajabi’s header didn’t trouble Ersberg. The home side responded once more but Luc Robitaille put his header over while Ersberg was alert enough to deny Delgado with a brilliant save. The Kings would go close to pulling a goal back as a mishit shot by Dan Scuderi struck a post before TCM gifted them a route back in. A poorly placed back header by Jordi Rodri evaded his own ‘keeper to make it 2-3 and when Delgado missed a chance to extend the lead again the home side capitalised. Michal Handzus curled in a stunner from outside the area to send the home fans delirious. This would prove the final chance of the game with the sides taking a point each away from the encounter. The point takes Stripy’s side out of the drop zone and they will be keen to build on the momentum they gained from the latter stages of this game. RDCM wryly said that they ‘should have won etc etc’ but the manager is experienced enough to know these things happen. He will also ensure they are in the right frame of mind when they travel to Kroklund on Friday.

Kroklund were embroiled in a 3-3 draw of their own as they fought back for a point at Futsal. The home side would start the quicker of the two but Rowley Forrester hit a free-kick over and they would find themselves behind. Gabriel Galtier would show his striking instinct with a fine toe-poke to give the visitors a fifth minute lead. Their joy would be short-lived, however, as a well-placed header by Rick Tuttle levelled matters a minute later. Galtier tried to re-establish his side’s lead but put his lob over and they would be behind on nine minutes as a penalty was duly converted by Freddy Kennedy. Robin Barratt toe-poked wide and Mirciulica Bardes missed the target with a header as the home side continued to press. Indeed, Barratt would put a power shot wide as they struggled with their finishing. The second-half saw Forrester hit an early free-kick at Kangashaka before Ryan Prisk made it 3-1 with a looping header. Kroklund would respond well to this setback, though, and Bosse Bong pulled a goal back with a fine header on the hour. Futsal continued to look dangerous but Barratt had a lob saved before the ‘keeper also denied him from a power shot. Kroklund looked for the equaliser with Aatu Vuokki shooting wide. Galtier would have better luck on 79 minutes by placing a clinical shot in to make it 3-3. Both sides would have a late chance to win it but Chris Collin and Bosse Bong were denied by the respective ‘keepers and the sides would have to settle for a point apiece. The point takes Jake’s side to within three of safety and they will look to close the gap further with an away match at Bill Murray on Friday. Meanwhile, bossebong’s side are three points above the drop zone and they will look to keep this gap in place as the games tick by.

Real Madrid enjoyed a welcome win with a 2-0 success at home to Juventus. A fourth minute header by Stu Mackay gave them the ideal platform on which to build their success. Juventus would try to hit back through Alberto Morante but his half-volley went over. Mackay would then have a header saved before hitting the post with another headed effort. Kapo Kachadorian would double the lead on 38 minutes, though, as he shot home from inside the penalty area. The second-half saw Juve search for a way back in but two free-kicks by Mairthin Foley were easily saved and they saw time run out on their chances. Madrid and its supporters have been in a much happier state since FredRizzo returned ‘fully focused’ after dealing with ‘some urgent personal issues.’ With the club now six points clear of the drop zone they will expect to finish in a respectable position and move on to better things next term. SuperJuve finds his club in a similar position and they will look forward to a home match against Los Samgeles to further distance themselves from the bottom sides.
