Good week

Three Lions FC recovered from their horrible dip in form a couple of weeks ago with a couple of wins this week, with Tranmere Rovers and Santos FC being the unlucky victims. In this past week, Three Lions FC have shown their strength at their home ground, the Wembley, as they defeated formidable opposition in the form of Tranmere Rovers and Santos FC.

Tranmere Rovers were behind within 10 minutes as young Henning Bade played a world-class through ball for Cristiano Izuldo to run onto and smack past Miroslaw Onyszko, a total insult to one of the best breakaway stoppers in the league. Robin van Izu then put the hosts 2-0 up with another well-taken penalty. Onyszko might have expected a full power RVI drive into one of the four corners, but what he got was a soft chip into the bottom corner as he dived the other way. Rovers took their time to come back, but Adam Mlynarz gave his side faint hopes of a draw as he headed in a Manuel Bonda cross in the 77th minute. Bade then impressed again as he produced a stunning goal to make it 3-1, pouncing on a backpass from his fellow young midfielder, the flashy Luís Carlos Almeida, also known as Nani, as the latter drove in from the left wing to send an absolute thunderbolt into the bottom corner through the legs of two Rovers defenders. Bonda grabbed a consolation goal for Rovers in the 85th minute but the points ultimately went to the Lions.

Still reeling from their tremendous win over Tranmere, Three Lions FC allowed Santos FC to draw first blood within a minute of kickoff in their next game, Fredrick Winnerljung heading in a Robbie Mitchell corner in the first minute. However, the visitors were also caught offguard as Rodrigo Possebon floated in a Lions corner just a minute later and RVI pounced on it with a volley that Alvar Rodenas could hardly see in the crowded penalty area, let alone save it. The winning goal took its time to come along, but the home fans went ecstatic when it did, the prodigious Luca Tonizu ending his goal drought for the season with a bullet header from a Possebon cross.

"These are two big wins for us. I know the youths have played a big part in these two games, and they will be the first ones I turn to if any of the seniors can't take part in coming games," said Izuka to reporters after the Santos game.
