Kensington Boys Club 0 - 2 The Vikings

Viking Land News

Vikings gain revenge for earlier home defeat.

The Vikings gained revenge for the home defea suffered at the hands of Kensington Boys Club with a good 2-0 away win.

The game started wll for the Vikings and Colin Crouch got them the perfect start in the 16th minute when he picked up a pass from Ahlm and curled home a beautiful long range shot that left Kensington keeper Lorentzen looking on helplessly. Potway then narrowly missed with a header on 21 as the Vikings pressed hard. Kensington where finding opportunities hard to come by and may have felt Whitley should have done better in the 23rd minute but his header was easily dealt with by Raasch. De Vere then saw a 35th minute lob saved as KBC looked for a way back into the game. 0-1 half time of an even game.

The second half started quietly and nothing of note happened unti the 71st minute. Worthington lashed in a long range effort for Kensington and with PatrikPatrik celebrating on the sidelines the whistle then went for a clear offside to rule out the equaliser. De Vere then received a 2nd yellow for Kensington as he attempted to con the ref to win a penalty but thankfully the ref was wise to this! The Vikings used this extra man to seal the game. A set piece move saw Almandis set up Portway and he volleyed the ball home in the 87th minute. Potway then saw a 90th minute header fly over but it didnt matter and the Vikings picked up 3 valuable points.

Manager Eaglesrjh was delighted to gain revenge "It's a great result and good to gain some revenge for the earlier defeat at the hands of Kensington. We need to keep pushing on from here as the promotion race is really tight"
