Bonkers Win at Irregulars

Bonkers and These Charming Men were involved in a dramatic game at Irregulars Arena as the league leaders emerged 3-2 victors. Things didn’t start well for Bonkers, though, as a Tord Jakobson header had the hosts in front as early as the third minute. They did respond well to this setback with a Stefan Beelenkamp header being well-saved by Derksen in the home goal. Derksen could do nothing to prevent Oswald Rickers heading in on 18 minutes but the ‘keeper was relieved to see the assistant referee flagging for offside even if the call was somewhat dubious. Bonkers maintained the pressure and saw Beelenkamp have a free-kick saved by Derksen and they would go in a goal behind. The second-half started with Beelenkamp heading well over before finally making a chance count with a further header. Beelenkamp continued his assault with a free-kick blasted over while he placed a headed opportunity onto a post. Linus Streicher responded for the hosts with a header which went over before Beelenkamp was afforded another free-kick from which he made no mistake to put them 2-1 up. Shaun McFadden had an immediate response for the hosts with a clinical header to level at 2-2 and Stuart Cooksey saw a header saved as he looked to turn the game round. Ultimately, though, it would be Bonkers who would pinch the winner as Neo Clemence made the most of a 90th minute headed opportunity to give the visitors a 3-2 victory. GarethLloyd was pleased with victory against ‘a very good team’ and they move happily on in their unique way which looks like leading to a league title. RDCM was obviously disappointed with a ‘last minute winner’ but can take heart from a much improved performance against a side who had beaten them so convincingly a short while ago.

White Hawk ensured the pressure would remain on the leaders as they defeated Los Samgeles Kings 2-1 at Staples Center. The visitors put in a dominating first-half display, creating seven chances to the home side’s none. Adan Donahue got a lob all wrong as they began on the front foot while Ryan Dharmsingh shot straight at Ersberg. Dharmsingh would waste another chance minutes later before a free-kick by Donahue was well-claimed by the ‘keeper. Donahue would get his revenge moments later with a superbly struck set-piece which gave them a 1-0 lead although he couldn’t make it two as he wasted another chance moments later. Dharmsingh did make it 2-0 on 33 minutes as he placed a header beyond Ersberg and although Derek Armstrong had the ball in the net at the other end it was chalked off for a cruel offside decision. The second-half saw Hawk continue to be the superior side but Dharmsingh’s shot was saved and the home side would fight back. Armstrong found some redemption with a super header on 52 minutes but Michal Handzus couldn’t level with a shot six minutes later. Hawk attempted to re-establish their wo goal lead but Dharmsingh had one lob tipped over while another effort comfortably cleared the bar. Los Samgeles tried to level through Torben Kummel but he couldn’t test Dankoi and Hawk might have made it a 3-1 victory with the last chance of the game as Byron Somaroe cracked a half-volley off a post. Nevertheless a 2-1 win keeps them within two points of Bonkers and well-placed to take the title race down to the wire. Meanwhile, the Kings remain in trouble at the bottom of the table and they face a crucial match against Futsal on Friday.

Charlottenburg responded to a 3-0 home defeat to Kroklund Kings by sacking Wazza as manager. Kroklund put in an excellent display with Dead Two lobbing in the opener on 18 minutes. Curt Elliott forced Andre Abels into a save on 22 minutes before Sjunne Wenna made it 2-0 with an excellent header on 25 minutes. Robbie Fowler did try to respond for the hosts but his header went over and Tapani Visavuori completed the home side’s first-half misery by chipping in delightfully for the third on 42 minutes. Kroklund continued to look the more likely immediately after the break but Valio Kapiala saw his free-kick saved before Shmuel Peha had a rare effort at the other end but missed the goal comfortably. Peha did have a powerful strike late on but again couldn’t find the target and Charlottenburg succumbed to a routine 3-0 defeat. The win will have come as a relief to bossebong whose side are now six points clear of the relegation zone and look much more comfortable. Charlottenburg fans will have been delighted with the quick appointment after the game as Carbonmonoxide brings with him a reputation for taking sides up through the divisions.

Cressex and The Lone Wanderers combined for eight goals but it was the visitors who would emerge victorious to remain in the title picture. A first minute header by Stephen Julius gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage while Lauro Poggi fired wide in response at the other end. Cressex would have another chance via a Poggi free-kick but Ibehre made the save. Ibehre and his opposite number Stoker would be kept busy and they kept out Julius and Ghita Ahmataj respectively. Tryggvi Valsson was the next to try his luck but his effort wouldn’t find the target while Tomas Tiribocchi also put a header over as Cressex struggled to find an equaliser. Mark Rosbottom then made their pain worse by heading in number two for the visitors but the lead was quickly reduced. Poggi would finally make one of his chances count as he shot home after a corner but in keeping with a crazy game Rosbottom shot home for 3-1 to the visitors on 24. Tiribocchi swiftly responded with a clinical header for 2-3 while the Wanderers missed a chance through Arsim Kule while a William MacAvish shot was disallowed for offside. A free-kick by MacAvish needed saving but there was nothing Stoker could do about Rosbottom’s hat-trick header on 43 minutes which made it 4-2 to the visitors. The same player might have made it 5 but his lob went over and a breathless half came to a close. Albert Scully chipped over as the visitors looked to extend their lead but a power shot at the other end by Valsson put the game back in the melting pot at 3-4. Kule lobbed over again for Wanderers while Poggi did likewise before Boccaccini struck a post with a shot. A volley by Ahmataj also went over as Cressex’s opportunity passed them by. Rosbottom added his fourth of the game with an excellent header to put them 5-3 up and Ahmataj missed a diving header to complete a frustrating evening for the hosts. HH admitted that his side ‘are in a great position’ but was still trying to keep everyone’s feet on the ground by admitting they weren’t ‘aiming for anything more than a solid season.’ Cressex are still hovering above the drop zone but they will try and take the positive of scoring three goals against a tough defence.

Juventus kept up their recent scoring form with a 6-1 win at Norfolk. Alberto Morante headed in well after a minute to signal the worst for Norfolk but they produced an inspired spell in the following minutes. Evgeny Kuryanov had a headed attempt before Norfolk got the chance to equalise from the spot; Trevor Fazackerley making no mistake with their first goal of the season. Claude Blanquet ensured the home fans wouldn’t be celebrating for long, though, as he shot home in the penalty area on 13 minutes to restore the visitors lead before Orlan Canito followed suit but was clearly offside. Mairthin Foley had a header saved before a mishit shot by Canito did make it 3-1 on 19 minutes to give Juventus some breathing space. The chances kept coming and Blanquet had a looping header go over before he made better use of his next headed chance to make it 4-1 on 23 minutes. Obadele Eliakwu side-footed a shot wide a minute later and he was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a flicked header on 32. Canito would make it 5-1 a minute later, though, as he finished clinically in the area and although Blanquet had a header saved Foley would make it 6-1 before the break with a fine header. Norfolk bravely battled on in the second-half and would have the only opportunity but Tajo Juanjo’s volley was saved and they finished well-beaten. SuperJuve has his side in striking distance of the top three and while they remain in good goal-scoring form they will be a threat to anyone. Howemiester will have raised a glass to celebrate his side’s first goal of the season and will be happy just to chalk off another game ahead of the change report.

Real Madrid secured their first win in seven to leave Futsal still deep in relegation trouble. Futsal would enjoy the better chances in the game but Rick Tuttle set the tone as his header was saved by Nersesian. A bicycle-kick by Freddy Kennedy fared no better as the ‘keeper positioned himself well again to make the save. Their third chance of the half proved to be the most unfortunate as Tuttle looked to do everything right in lobbing Nersesian only for it to crash back off the angle of post and bar. Madrid would improve after the break and Ashod Marderosian gave them the perfect tonic with a headed goal on 56 minutes. Kevin Gabriele couldn’t repeat the dose on 63 minutes as his diving header went over but Futsal missed their opportunity to level when Rowley Forrester’s free-kick was saved and Madrid recorded a vital victory. FredRizzo’s side have eased their relegation worries but it might be a case of having drawn too many to force their way into any battle at the top. Jake will be eager for his side to pick up a win soon to get themselves out of the relegation zone but they remain well in touch with Cressex who occupy the last safe spot.
