Leo Lights Up MVB

Totaalvoetbal fluffed their lines once more as ThunderCats raided the MVB to keep up their intense pace at the head of the RM Invitational.

With confidence low, Totaal tried to compensate by making a fast start but even though Pierre van Diemen’s brilliant volley found the net after a pass by Edwin Hayter it was chalked off for shirt pulling.

Worse was to follow for the former champions as Johan Juffing suffered an injury which dragged down the average age of the side as he was replaced by 19-year-old Ger Wattamaleo and they then conceded the opening goal.

Leonardo Borja was found unmarked following a corner by Adalberto Rua with the home defence suffering a collective brain freeze as no-one sought to close him down. The result was devastating as he picked a spot on the ball and hit through it to power it into the net with Leemans rooted in goal.

The rest of the half was a stalemate as the two sides battle for possession but with a goal lead the visitors were happy to play the waiting game.

The second-half continued in a similar fashion until Totaal fashioned two late chances. Giving a glimpse of how then can play when in full flow Vajpayee put through Horacio Metelo and the experienced midfielder deceived Magro with a lobbed finish only to be denied cruelly by the bar.

As if this wasn’t bad enough Metelo then went on to free van Diemen and the exciting striker produced a side-footed finish beyond Magro but onto the post as Totaal couldn’t believe their luck.

With their chance gone Totaal slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat to leave them looking over their shoulder rather than at the head of proceedings. If they did look up they would see a confident ThunderCats side who now sit four points clear and look every inch the champion team they are.

Meeblind was a frustrated but honest man at full-time:

“We have done more than enough for a point today but the top sides make you pay for missed chances while they take theirs. ThunderCats are the top side.

“Meelas is the champion manager and seemingly always finds a way to pull out a result. I have only admiration for the way he is running his football club.”
