Santos swept aside Totaalvoetbal to keep their ambitions going strong in season 4 of the RM Invitational.
An eighth minute strike from Fanuco Ufarte gave them the perfect platform to go on and outplay an out-of-form away side who have now suffered three straight defeats.
Horacio Metelo missed a free-kick chance for the visitors before Ray Goddard’s header looked to have made it 2-0 but was unfortunately chalked off due to a doubtful offside decision.
The second-half saw Santos step up their dominance and leave the visitors wondering where their next point would be coming from.
A well-placed shot by Cesar Ferrari made it 2-0 after 54 minutes and despite Allan Akerboom hitting a post with a fine strike Santos continued to be on the front foot.
Adriano Ribeiro was denied by Rimmer and Asmar Golkas flicked a header over as the home side searched for more goals while Totaal became more abject by the minute.
Ribeiro was again denied by Rimmer before the third goal was added by Fredrick Winnerljung with an excellent header.
Ribeiro continued his misfortune while Metelo pulled one back via a free-kick but it was the hosts who would emerge by far the happier side.
Meeblind was a disappointed man at the final whistle:
“Obviously that wasn’t a good performance by the standards of this football club,” he opened.
“While the defence didn’t play well we also need to get in an experienced forward to help out van Diemen.”
