Reggae Reggae Sauce 0 - 7 The Vikings

Viking Land News

Vikings destroy unprepared Sauce!

The Vikings hammered a totally dis-organised Reggae Reggae Sauce side in a display of finishing that should worry other teams in the league.

The game started quickly with a booking for Almandis. The first chance came on 8 minutes when Papakostas had a header that missed the target. The same player was then booked for an apparent dive on 11 minutes. Reggae Reggae Sauces job was then made slightly harder when playmaker Grant picked up a knock, he played on but was clearly hampered by the knock, There was really yet no sign of the things to come when Lewis Branston saw his 21st minute shot well saved by the R.R.S keeper. However there was then to be six minutes of mayhem as the Vikings blew the game apart. Firstly on 26 minutes a quick breakaway led to Branston feeding Papakostas and the strikes slotted home coolly. Papakostas then got his 2nd just 2 minutes later as he picked his spot from a distance and beat the keeper. The 3rd came on 30 minutes and fell to Tassiopoulos who claimed a good goal (replays show it bounced in off a knee!), the 6 minutes of mayhem were completed as Maladenis headed in a Jukka cross. No more first half chances but the Vikings well pleased with a 0-4 half time lead and 66% possession.

Clinical finishing and keep ball were in evidence from the Vikings in the second half. Firstly Strachan hammered home from distance on 48 minutes. On 62 minutes young midfielder Branston added a goal to his 2 assists as he got ahead of his marker to head home a Strachan cross. The rout was completed on 80 minutes as Tolley got to a Strachan ball in the area and finished well. 0-7 at full time of a one sided affair.

Eaglesrjh said this after the game. "I'm pleased with the guys today, yes we came and played a very dis-organised team but my lads kept professional and got a very good win. It's not up to me who we play against but it's obviously easier if the opposition play players out of their natural positions. I took the opportunity to put in the 3 youngest outfield players as well so it's especially pleasing to get such a big win whilst also giving these guys much needed match time. I'm also pleased that we have goals coming from all over the pitch, 10 of the 16 outfield players in the squad are on the scoresheet this season so far and that takes pressure off the strikers."

The Vikings are back in the promotion slots and will hope to continue the good run with a win next match against Kensington boys club.
