Bonkers Make Sense Again

Bonkers got swift revenge on Futsal as they won 2-1 at Crazy Town. Futsal started promisingly and were only denied by some smart work from Benjamin Hawke as the ‘keeper gathered bravely at Rick Tuttle’s feet. Bonkers were to respond in this game, though, and Philip Calderwood saw only the woodwork deny him the opening goal from a precise header. Calderwood did get the opener on 20 minutes but rather fortuitously as he mishit a shot beyond the despairing Kris Heckingbottom. It would be 2-0 before half-time with Stephen Lorimer giving the hosts a major boost with a fantastic strike from distance. The game would be back in the melting pot at the start of the second-half, though, as Freddy Kennedy back-heeled home with a finish which delighted the away fans. The comeback was nearly complete on 68 minutes but Samson Heskey was denied by a post as his shot looked to have beaten Hawke. Bonkers missed chances of their own as Calderwood found Heckinbottom in fine form and the ‘keeper then held well from Mortimer Wainman. Futsal would then suffer further frustration as Rick Tuttle hit a post with a powerfully hit low shot and Calderwood might have rubbed salt into the wound but he put a free-kick wide. GarethLloyd declared himself ‘happy to see (the) team get back to winning ways’ and will be just as happy when he looks at the league table which sees the side still sitting top of the pile. Jake apologised to Futsal fans for his ‘lack of activity’ and with the boss now fully concentrated on the task in hand they could be a team to watch in the second-half of the season.

White Hawk FC kept close order at the top with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Real Madrid FC. Clyde Nageswar nearly gave them a dream start but his tenth minute diving header hit the bar and went safe. Madrid would see a Davit Ohanesian bicycle-kick go over before being subdued for the remainder of the contest. Nageswar went close with another header before finally getting it right on 40 minutes; placing his header beyond Nersesian to give them a deserved lead. Ryan Dharmsingh lobbed another header just over before the break but Hawk went in worthy leaders at the break. Hawk controlled much of the second-half and Dharmsingh got his goal with a well-placed side-footed effort which evaded Nersesian. He would miss a late chance to make it 3-0 but the Hawk fans were more than happy with their evening’s entertainment. Built on a defensive unit which has conceded just eight goals all season Hooraymee’s side look well-equipped to go all the way and secure Division One football for next season. Madrid look to have problems as FredRizzo has been absent for the last two matches and are now without a win in their last six.

These Charming Men disposed of Norfolk N Chance with a minimum of fuss for the second time in a week to keep in touch with the leading sides. Vaios Pakaltsis chipped home in the eighth minute from inside the area to give them the ideal start and it would get even better minutes later. Jordi Rodri hit a beautiful strike from distance on 11 minutes to make it 2-0 and another long evening was in the offing for Norfolk. Shaun McFadden missed narrowly with a lobbed effort before Stuart Cooksey shot home from a tight angle on 24 minutes to make it 3-0. A header by Linus Streicher needed saving by Olausson before Arthur Norton unfortunately deflected in number four past his own ‘keeper on 34 minutes. Mauricio Capdevilla thumped in number five from distance to complete a thoroughly dominating first-half performance. The second-half saw TCM ease off the gas a little and they would create just two further chances. Cooksey saw his powerful effort saved by Olausson and the ‘keeper would excel again to keep out a diving header by Shaun McFadden. RDCM spoke out about his ‘goal difference being recovered’ and they can now head into their rematch with Bonkers in high spirits. Howemiester will just tell his side to keep working and learning as the games tick by on a troubled campaign.

Another comprehensive performance saw The Lone Wanderers defeat Kroklund Kings 4-0. Niall Hedges gave them the perfect platform from which to play with an excellently placed sixth minute shot to put the hosts 1-0 ahead. A minute later and they were 2-0 ahead after the visitors gave William MacAvish far too much room in the penalty area; the result being a delicate chip which defeated Kangashaka easily. Kangashaka would partially redeem himself on 20 minutes as he saw off a powerful strike by Mart Rosbottom although the forward would add number three by chipping in to complete a clinical breakaway move. Arsim Kule had a fine effort stopped by the ‘keeper before the Wanderers capped a superb half by adding goal number four just before the break; Rosbottom curling an effort from distance just beyond the cat and into the net. The Wanderers were happy to see out time during an uneventful second-half although MacAvish might have added a fifth but his radar was slightly off. With his side scoring goals and being extremely tough to break down at the other end, HH will be a confident man going as the second-half of the season continues. For bossebong promotion is but a distant dream, instead his side must concentrate on putting the wins together which will see them remain in the division for another season.

Juventus and Cressex were involved in another high scoring encounter as the home side edged to a 3-2 win. A first minute strike by Jacobo Chacros looked to have given Juventus the perfect base from which to go on and record a comfortable victory. However, Juve would then suffer injuries to Chacros and Manetti and their rhythm would be affected as a result. Indeed, Emil Rojas took full advantage by steering in the equaliser on 14 minutes to put the game back in the melting pot. Alberto Morante did miss a headed chance and saw Stoker save well from an excellent strike as the home side struggled to regain the initiative. Cressex also looked dangerous, though, and Douglas Wallberg might have done better from a diving header before Lauro Poggi thumped home a free-kick to give them a 2-1 advantage. Obadele Eliakwu and Mairthin Foley missed chances to equalise before the break and you could sense some anxiety in the crowd as the players disappeared for their break. Juve would put in a very controlled second-half performance, though, to work their way back into the game very professionally. Eliakwu would find the equaliser on 68 minutes with a stunning volley which gave Stoker no chance. The winner would be very different in the way it came as Raf Tudisco completely mishit his shot but watched with glee as it nestled in the bottom corner of the net. Not even a red-card to Jorn Fruh could dampen the home spirits at this point and they could celebrate back-to-back wins which has given SuperJuve an outside chance of leading his side to promotion this term. Villan_RAS has a much different agenda as he looks to keep his side clear of the bottom three with a tough looking match against The Lone Wanderers next up on Tuesday.

Charlottenburg FC and Los Samgeles Kings fought out a 1-1 draw in the division’s other game of the day. Los Samgeles looked the better side on the day and Ladislav Nagy gave them a super start with a breathtaking free-kick on 15 minutes. Unfortunately for them, though, they couldn’t hold onto their lead for long as Paul Scholes headed home accurately for an equaliser on 22 minutes. The second-half saw the Kings waste an early chance through Nagy as his header went over and Derek Armstrong fared no better late in the game as he got his lob up but not down in time to threaten the goal. The point will have been a welcome one for Stripy as he looks to navigate a way out of the relegation zone and he will take heart from a run which has seen them lose just once in the last four games. Charlottenburg will want Wazza to pick up a win soon to keep his side on pace for a top three finish in a season that has promised much.
