Totaalvoetbal kicked off the new campaign with a solid 5-0 home win over Manchester United.
After ending the last season with 10 successive games without a win the home fans were looking for some sort of sign that the rebuilding work had given them more hope for the coming term.
They would eventually get this but it would be left to a familiar face in Pierre van Diemen to give them the lead as he delivered from range.
Another stalwart in Johan Juffing added the second with a clever finish before youngster Nicholaus de Bilde opened his account in the famous Orange.
Ramiro Verona capped a display of quality from midfield with two second-half goals to make it 5-0 as Totaal sauntered to the win. Another new signing, Jaap Cruz, was instrumental in three of the goals and if they can maintain their form the side should enjoy a better season this time out.
‘I’m not predicting titles,’ opened Meeblind.
‘Obviously that is everyone’s aim whether they tell you so or not but we need to improve on seventh first and foremost.
‘We need to bed in our new signings, hope they start to feel something for the club and then take the challenge from that point on.
‘We have brought in some real quality, though, and it should be exciting if nothing else.’
