FMRealism gave @peace a baptism of fire in Division 2 as Gooners defeated Dream Team 3-1. With Gooners having enjoyed a fine start to life in Division 2 they proved too strong for their fellow promoted side. A free-kick on 25 minutes saw Iain Wright hit his effort too close to Delirious but that would prove the only chance in a quiet first-half. Gooners would open up after the break, though, but Freddie Ljungberg toe-poked one shot wide before heading at Delirious. There would be a key moment on 55 minutes as Kris Krafty was sent-off for brutal play and Gooners would capitalise. A penalty 20 minutes later saw Dennis Bergkamp open the scoring from the spot before Kyle Lang quickly headed home the second moments later. David Rocastle looped in a third goal on 82 minutes as his header evaded Delirious. The ‘keeper would punch away a chip by Cesc Fabregas before Warren Wish powered home a consolation at the other end. Martin Keown would waste the last chance of the game as he put a half-volley over but Gooners had run out comfortable winners. FMRealism declared himself ‘glad to have got the home win’ as he expects Dream Team to be ‘whooping ass very shortly.’ @peace will be glad to have got his first game out of the way but he will now want his side to concentrate on picking up points to put themselves in the promotion race.
Bully Boys matched Gooners stride for stride at the top as they disposed of manager-less Arsenal UK 3-1 at Dont know yet. Having shown a ruthless streak in their previous two games Bully Boys once again looked a side more than capable of going a long way this term. Berti Behrends had an early lob hit the bar before Curt Elliott placed home an accurate header to give the home side a lead on 11 minutes. Elliott would narrowly fail to make it 2-0 with an excellently curled shot but they did double their lead moments later as Sjunne Wenna produced a devastating header to beat Fabianski. Behrends tried an ambitious bicycle-kick on 22 minutes but the ‘keeper saved it comfortably before Theo Walcott forced Kangashaka into a fine save from a brilliant half-volley. The second-half would be a more level contest but it would be the home side who would press first; Bosse Bong having a free-kick saved before Trudell Conway headed in the third on 51 minutes. Behrends put a looping header over the bar 10 minutes later before Andrey Arshavin went close from a free-kick at the other end. Eduardo da Silva would then loop a header over before Arsenal did pull a goal back via the penalty spot as Alan Smith despatched with ease. Ultimately, though, this wouldn’t prove enough and Cathal’s side had picked up another three points. ‘Lurvly jubbly’ was his response to the win but a tough test awaits them in their next match as These Charming Men come to town. Arsenal had better news with the arrival of Ithaqua and a change of name to Crimea River heralds the start of a new era. The coach said of being ‘delighted’ with the appointment and expected to be beating ‘managerial lightweights’ very soon.
Abu Dhabi United put together a brilliant home display to defeat Futsal FC 4-1 and move into third in the table. After their opening day triumph life has got tougher for the visitors and they would struggle to come to terms with United in this contest. Claudio Moura opened the scoring on seven minutes with an excellent header from a corner. Roberts would stop United making it two by saving from a Ritchie Morgan toe-poke while a Franklin Pepper header went just over the bar. Jonathan Boulding would also hit a free-kick over the bar before Jack Wilshere had a powerful shot saved by Roberts. Futsal began well in the second-half and levelled as Rowley Forrester delivered a stunning free-kick. However, the home side would respond well and had already gone close through a Wilshere chip by the time Boulding headed them back into the lead on 62 minutes. Ger Wattamaleo made it three on 77 minutes with a fine volley and the home side completed the win in injury-time when Moura headed home his second of the game. Talinmer admitted after the game that he ‘didn’t expect to win that one, much less by that degree’ but the early signs are most definitely promising for Abu Dhabi United. Wildy’s side will hope to bounce back against a young PSV on Tuesday after suffering successive 4-1 defeats.
These Charming Men endured a disappointing home loss as Juventus finally kick-started their season. Hopes were high at Irregulars Arena that TCM would continue their unbeaten start to the season but a determined away side had different ideas. TCM were unlucky with their first chance as a driving shot by Loran Rajabi hit the woodwork and went safe. Juventus’ response was a free-kick by Jacobo Chacros which went wide but they would take the lead from their next chance; Obadele Eliakwu lobbing home from some way out to stun the home side. Rajabi would waste a chance to equalise by heading wide and Chacros then doubled their pain by planting a free-kick into the net just before the break. The second-half saw TCM try to work their way back into the contest but Bryan Higginbottom wasted their first chance by chipping over. They would pull a goal back on 72 minutes as Rajabi headed in to give the home fans hope. However, they wouldn’t be able to force any more chances and slipped to a disappointing defeat. RDCM was disappointed with a ‘frustrating game’ but was hopeful they ‘will bounce back in the next game.’ SuperJuve finally has his season underway and will look to trouble high-flying Abu Dhabi next.
The Kings recorded their first win as they defeated PSV Eindhoven 3-0 at Masters. Much of the groundwork would be laid during a strong first-half showing which left Eindhoven struggling. Jamie Sinclair would shoot the hosts into the lead from their first chance and his day would get even better as he shot through the legs of Reina to make it 2-0 on 25 minutes. Sinclair would miss a chance to score a first-half hat-trick as he lobbed over but the home side would still go into the break in a position of strength. The second-half saw a levelling out of their performance but Sinclair did net his hat-trick goal with an excellent diving header. PSV attempted to fight back but Rene Maslovsky had a header punched away before Timmy Simons saw his curled shot miss by inches. The final chance would fall to the hosts but Kevin Sheedy missed narrowly, however they would still record three important points. Hitman was delighted with Sinclair who he claimed ‘is going places.’ Kadri’s season still promises to be one of struggle but long-term success will be his goal although his short-term aim ‘is to score a goal in the next game.’
FC Bayern Munchen also secured their first three-point haul of the season as they produced an enterprising display away to wortley. Josh Redneck nearly made the worst possible start for the visitors as his dangerous back pass struck a post but Adriano Pelizzoli rounded Gareth to give Munchen a 1-0 lead on six minutes. Billy Bob then skimmed a header over the bar before Marshall Mayhem shot wide on 28 minutes. The second-half saw Munchen continue in their attacking fashion and a long range shot by Mayhem made it 2-0 on 61 minutes. Chuck Ewing would get his shot all-wrong from their next effort while Paulinho Santos missed from a free-kick effort at the other end. Ewing then stunned the hosts with a brilliant drive on 74 minutes although Brandon Hiller did reduce the deficit 10 minutes later from a clinical strike in the area. Billy Ray Bongle would force Gareth into a decent save from his header and wortley’s misery was completed when Orlando Bhoendie saw red for elbowing. Dimentis will be in positive mood after his side’s first win of the season and they will look to back it up when they entertain The Kings on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Thegtreatlordbags faces a tough task in their next encounter and they will need to tighten up to get anything from the Gooners.
