St Omer won their second game of the season as they despatched Anime Allstars FC 4-0 at Five Percent Stadium. Omer would come up against a side who fielded a younger team than themselves and they would take full advantage in an impressive display. Valente Giusti netted as early as the third minute from a super diving header to give Omer a 1-0 lead. Johnny Douglas’ lob would fly over at the other end before the same player put a header wide. Douglas was having a busy time of it but his back-heel would also lack accuracy and it would prove catching as Asuna Kagurazakaa also shot wide from a tight angle. Omer would nearly get a boost courtesy of Misaki Sakura but the Allstars defender would be relived as his miscue in front of his own goal would go wide. The second-half saw Omer dominate and they would find some clinical finishing to go with their fine play. A free-kick on 74 minutes saw Cony Tottee smash his effort against the bar but the second goal would arrive shortly afterwards with Giusti producing again with his head after some slack away marking from a corner. It would be three moments later with Marino Ulander also heading home accurately and when Dennis Bogarde toe-poked home in the area the visitors’ misery was complete. ConyTottee’s wish that they would ‘put up a better performance for the home crowd’ was realised and a position of fourth will also please the manager. Joshy knows he is in for a long season with his developing side but will be hopeful they can pick up some positive results on the way.
Morley Town continued their dominant start to the season with a 4-0 thumping of Alsancak. With the home side scoring goals and peerless at the back this result never seemed in doubt. Zacharias Ashe would have an early toe-poke saved by Cirkovic but Morley would hit the front as Giacomo Caracciolo beat the visiting defence in the air on 10 minutes. A free-kick eight minutes later saw Adolf Munzberg blast in number two before Florian Arnautu’s header was comfortably saved by Cirkovic. The one-way traffic would continue on 43 minutes as Arnautu powered in a low shot just wide and on the stroke of half-time Ashe would hit the bar with a brilliant effort from a tight angle. Morley would remain the more progressive force after the break and forced the first chance; however Ashe would mishit poorly and his shot would go well-wide. He would make it 3-0 on 63 minutes, though, as he placed home a header with unerring accuracy. Munzberg would have a header of his own saved by Cirkovic before Andreas Kafka made it 4-0 with a clever free-kick. Alsancak did force a late chance but Fraizer Campbell put his shot off-target and the visitors finished well-beaten. Morley News reported that this was ‘a classy performance’ as they continue their promotion surge. Wienersnitzel will accept defeats like this so long as his side continue to develop and with decent form that still looks like being the case.
EspAda moved up to second with a 3-1 win over Reggae Reggae Sauce. With Sauce the whipping boys, EspAda were keen to take advantage and claim another three home points and that would be the way it turned out. The first-half would be a relatively subdued affair with just a couple of chances for the home side. Andreas Sommer was foiled by Mullen in the very first minute and Patric Torebring also had a placed shot saved well by the ‘keeper. The second-half would see much more action and began with Torebring wasting a penalty for the hosts by shooting weakly at Mullen. Sauce wouldn’t make the same mistake with their penalty on 54 minutes, though, as Christiano Torres blasted home to give them a surprise lead. Diego Maradona then flicked a header just wide before Sommer’s curled shot was easily saved by Mullen. Sommer would be denied again by Mullen on 69 minutes as his free-kick was tipped over but EspAda would level when Maradone produced an outstanding bicycle-kick to beat the ‘keeper. Shivan Preetnav missed a side-footed shot which would have re-established the visitors’ lead and moments later Torebring powered in a header at the other end to put the hosts ahead for the first time in the game. Zihni Demiray struck a shot off-target while Preetnav’s header was tame as the sides exchanged chances. EspAda would then seal the game as a powerful strike from Gregor Muller beat Mullen with ease. Stefano Counago would see red late on for the visitors to cap another miserable day for their travelling fans. Crismorena has his side upwardly mobile following two big home wins and he will now want his troops to take that form on the road at Boo Boys on Tuesday. Xpertelevener should be used to the defeats by now but a home match against a youthful Anime might give them the chance to buck this trend.
Crimson Tigers are in third following a solid 2-1 home victory Tottenham Hotspur. Both sides would be putting in youthful line-ups so the contest was a little green in places but enthusiastic nonetheless. The visitors would force the first chance but Pavo Kirin put his side-footed shot wide of the goal. Arthur Norton responded for Crimson but he couldn’t find the target either. Tomas Master would find the net on 19 minutes but his strike was disallowed for shirt pulling while Miroslav Burkhart wasted a lobbed effort for the hosts as they went in level at the break. The second-half began with a Spurs chance and Gareth Bale made no mistake in rounding Gow to give them a 1-0 lead. This would prove short-lived, though, as Andy Howe lobbed home with some aplomb and the same player might have made it 2-1 but shot wide when well-placed. Aaron Lennon had a header caught at the other end before Niko Kranjcar very nearly put through his own goal on 84 minutes. The Tigers would still win it, though, as Burkhart shot home powerfully in the area to deny Spurs their first point of the season. Tigers News reported that the club was delighted with two wins out of three to start the season and although ‘no-one is expecting a promotion push this season it would just be nice not to finish bottom.’ Ocs has said that his side have ‘showed more than enough to prove we’ll cope at this level’ and they will be hopeful of some points soon.
FCR Cressex made it back-to-back wins as they overcame AFC Boo Boys 2-1 at home. The game would see the best of the home side as Boo Boys struggled to make any sort of impact. Ubaldo Andre put a header well-over before he did better with his next one which he flicked into the far corner to give Cressex a 1-0 lead. Andre would quickly add a second with a cool side-footed shot but the lead was quickly halved as Torben Kummel hit home a half-volley. Lauro Poggi would waste a headed chance for the hosts before Emil Rojas saw a free-kick saved by Ersberg. The second-half saw more Cressex chances with the first going wide via the boot of Andre. Rojas hit a post with a beautifully struck free-kick before Andre narrowly missed with another header. He would have another try of adding a third goal but he couldn’t keep his header down but nevertheless his side won 2-1. Villan_RAS will be delighted with his side’s response to their opening day defeat but they face a tricky trip to Crimson on Tuesday. Skoolyou will demand his side bounce back from their first defeat of the campaign and a home match against EspAda will test their mettle.
Rolling Thunder and 1863 Munich fought out a tight 1-1 draw at Cloud Nine. An even contest would remain in the balance throughout as the fans got their money’s worth. Most of the action came in the first-half with Fabirzio Gualtieri curling home a long range shot on five minutes to put Munich ahead. Stephane Aoudou would then see his free-kick tipped over by Jorquera and Thunder would strike back. Jovan Gagic delivered a sumptuous chip to level matters on 21 minutes. Turlough Daly couldn’t make a header count for the visitors before Adrian Fontenla also put a shot over the bar as they strived to hit the front again. At the other end Erland Hangeland struck a post with a well-hit free-kick but the sides would go in level. The second-half would be a tense affair but it would be short on chances. The one which did come would fall the way of the home side but Hangeland’s free-kick would prove easy for Zinnari and the sides would take home a point each from the encounter. Vehusheia has his side unbeaten following a solid start and if they can start turning draws into wins they promise to be a side to watch. Anderson will be happy with his side’s first point of the season and they will now look to build on that as they have a winnable home game against Tottenham.
