Morley Town made it a fantastic five as they swept aside 1863 Munich 3-0 at Scatcherd Park. After their excellent start to the season there is more and more talk round Morley that this will be their year to take the title and this win will have only strengthened those claims. Dustin Wotton would open the scoring on 13 minutes with a powerful header and Zubeldia then ensured they kept the lead with a smart leg save from Turlough Daly’s powerfully curled shot. Adolf Munzberg nearly made it two for the hosts with a diving header but it would hit the bar and go safe. However, Munich wouldn’t survive for long and Helder Velez headed home for a 2-0 lead on the half-hour. Wotton would as good as make the game safe on 36 minutes with an excellent lob from distance which Ruiz could do nothing about. Daly did brush a post with a late strike for the visitors but they had been overwhelmed during a professional opening 45 minutes from Morley. Morley began the second-half on the front foot and a thumping drive by Munzberg went just over before the same player wasted a free-kick opportunity. The rest of the game was quiet with just one chance for Munich; Stephane Aoudou forcing a decent save out of Zubeldia from a free-kick. Leeg21 has led his side three points clear at the top and with only one goal conceded it is difficult to see where they might encounter any difficulties. Anderson won’t be too disappointed with defeat against a side in such good form but will be eager for his side to put it right against Omer on Tuesday.
EspAda are Morley’s nearest challengers and they kept close order with a narrow 1-0 win over Crimson Tigers. With the Tigers having enjoyed a much-improved start to the season following their appointment of Paul the home side weren’t to take this encounter lightly and they just about did enough for the win. The goal came early as Vedin Sinanovic lobbed in an exquisite effort to leave Gow floundering in the away goal. The Tigers wouldn’t be overawed despite this goal and Miroslav Burkhart got a volley on target but Kerrigan was alert enough to save well. However, this would be the only chance the Tigers could muster and Calvino Baraja nearly made it 2-0 late on with a diving header but Gow managed to claw the ball to safety. Crismorena will feel fully justified about taking the EspAda job at the start of the season and his eyes will solely be fixed on promotion following a solid start. Paulc333 has his Tigers side in superb form and while he has said ‘it’s a long time to go to improve this squad’ he also added there are ‘green shoots of recovery showing.’
Alsancak ensured Reggae Reggae Sauce returned to losing ways with a solid 4-0 triumph at Mosquito Alley. With RRS buoyed from their surprise win last time out the home side had to be alert to prevent another win for Xpertelevener’s side. As it was a blistering start put the game well in the home side’s control. Rory Burston would lob in the opener with just a minute gone as Mullen was caught off his line. This quickly became 2-0 a minute later as Andrew Taylor delivered a stunning free-kick and only a poor header by Gabriel Agbonlahor stopped it from being 3-0 on four minutes. However, Agbonlahor would make amends five minutes later with a looping header which again found Mullen wanting positionally. Taylor would be denied by Mullen from a free-kick on 16 minutes while Shivan Preetnav put a header over at the other end with RRS’s only chance of the half. The second-half wouldn’t be as explosive but it would see Burston add another lob, this one from some way out, to complete an excellent 4-0 victory. Wienersnitzel’s side are another who are in outstanding shape form-wise and they will look to carry on their progression at AFC Boo Boys on Tuesday. Xpertelevener will be back to the drawing board following this defeat and the fans will be hopeful that their last victory wasn’t the only one they will have to enjoy this term.
FCR Cressex sit in fifth after they won on the road at Tottenham. With the home side still adjusting to life in the league, Cressex capitalised in an attacking display. The first chance would fall the home side’s way but Tomas Master could only chip the ball over the bar. Cressex’s first chance fell to Ubaldo Andre but his header was held by Gomes before Master hit a free-kick too close to Martinzon at the other end. Andre would prove a thorn in the home team’s side and he went close again on 32 minutes as his powerful strike went just wide. Tomas Tiribocchi would have Cressex ahead, though, as he thumped home following some slack marking from a corner and a minute later Andre got his goal with a precise header to leave Tottenham up against it. The home side would keep plugging away and Pavo Kirin nearly got a goal back with a powerful header. However, it would be the visitors who would strike again with that man Andre producing an excellent diving header to leave Gomes helpless in goal. Again Spurs would try to fight back and Master was very unfortunate with his free-kick which hit the angle with Martinzon beaten. The second-half saw both sides continue to create chances and Robbie Keane did pull a goal back on 49 minutes as he shot through the ‘keeper’s legs. Tiribocchi put a header over at the other end before Bulent Onal had a header saved. A lob header by Andre also missed the target before Keane looked to pull another back but was denied by a theatrical save. Cressex would see their finishing desert them in the second-half with Rojas seeing a mishit shot not threaten and they would then have Metin Sikel sent-off for dangerous play. Things might have become more edgy for the visitors but Master’s free-kick went wide and they managed to hold on for the points. Villan_RAS will realise his side still need to tighten up defensively and they will want to do so ahead of a big match with EspAda on Tuesday. Ocs will want his side to pick up their first point sooner rather than later but a home match against Morley looks a daunting task next up.
Rolling Thunder are also sitting nicely in mid-table as they showed a professional side to their play in a 2-0 success at St Omer. With Omer more of a threat to sides this term Thunder had to be on their game to keep them at bay and they managed this with some clinical finishing. The first goal came on 38 minutes following a quiet start; John Obi Mikel blasting home a penalty to put Thunder 1-0 up at the break. The second-half saw chances at either end but Rutger Graflund mishit his shot for the hosts and they would nearly go 2-0 down as Marcelo da Silva rasped a free-kick off a post. It wouldn’t matter, though, as Thunder did make it 2-0 moments later with Jovan Gagic hitting a somewhat scuffed shot home to leave Omer beaten. Marino Ulander did force Jorquera into a late save as Omer tried for a consolation but it wasn’t to be and Thunder won out. Thunder look well-placed to have a real go at promotion this term with their only defeat having come against the league-leading Morley and a trip to RRS won’t hold any fears for Vehusheia’s side. CT has admitted their campaign has been somewhat of a ‘yo-yo’ but that won’t be thought of as such a bad thing in comparison to recent campaigns.
Anime Allstars enjoyed a tight victory over AFC Boo Boys as they triumphed 1-0 at The Hayao Miyazaki Stadium. With Allstars having suffered a poor defeat last time out they were in determined mood not to give anything away in this game and a late winner left them in jubilant mood. Johnny Douglas missed early with a back-heel while Ross Scott put a header over for Boo Boys as the sides traded chances. A free-kick on the stroke of half-time gave Allstars a chance but Ersberg held well from To-Love-Ru Lala’s effort. There would be more chances after the break with Naru Narusegawa striking a post with a clever effort through the legs of Ersberg. Kiri Kojima then missed a headed chance and Boo Boys responded. Alexander Frolov had a header blocked before Lennox McCarroll missed the target with his header as they searched for the opener. Meanwhile, Lala had a side-footed shot saved at the other end before Derek Armstrong’s driving shot smashed against the bar for the visitors. Sergei Zubov would strike the woodwork also as his toe-poke beat Sapienza but not a post while Torben Kummel lobbed over. The dramatic ending would then come in favour of the hosts as Sonsaku Hakufu headed in to send the home fans into delirium. Joshy admitted that he ‘loves it when a late goal goes in his favour’ and he will be delighted with the points. Skoolyou will be disappointed and feel this was one that got away. A game against Alsancak offers the opportunity to get back to winning ways next time out.
