Gooner Survive!

In round two of the RMI Gooners faced a tricky visit Bayern, a team that FMR has said is capable of getting results against the so called big four . So with that said the boss will be more than pleased to come away with all three points and it would seem he was right to be concerned as Bayern gave a very good account of themselves. The boss seemed to get things tactically right on the day and although they didn't play the most attractive of games, it was a well earned and hard fought battle ... that claimed a casualty in the form of Patrick Viera. Although Gooners controlled the game well, they didn't look their usual selves going forward and were almost punished for not finishing their chances and the job early on.

The manager decided to stick with young Cesc, which turned out to be a good call as it was his pace that created the first decent opening as he fed Kyle Lang for the first goal of the day. Cesc seems to be a fantastic buy and has made a real impact since arriving, he seems fearless and is very exciting to watch and with two goals and one assist in two games, FMR will have no regrets about paying slightly over the odds for him. Shirt sales have also soared since his arrival and he has lifted the morale around the club no end after last seasons parties were cancelled.

Although Gooners controlled all the possession they looked much less creative than usual, the boss picked Rocastle over Ljungberg and he seemed not quite on the same wave length as the other players. Given it was his league debut it was understandable, by no means did he have a good game it just seemed to take something out of the side. Gooners failed to score for all their posession and it was Bayern who were to strike next bringing the scores level. Its was always on the cards and Gooners didnt look settled at the back with Seaman still recovering from recent injury but Gooners continued to control posession and never put their heads down.

With the game a stalemate and no side looking like winning it was the injury to Viera that changed everything! Viera was stretcherd off and Ljungberg was sent on in his place. Ljungberg immediatley added another dimension to the midfield and with Bayern not paying close enough attention to Henry... you knew he surely couldn't go two whole games without a goal. Lang was involved again and it was he who slipped the ball through to Henry who never looked like he was going to miss. It was a good result for Gooners and will give them confidence going into the next game versus Dream Team and they will need to be on top of their game to get any kind of result tomorrow.

As the games were being played out though there was bigger events on the horizon, Dream Team had appointed @peace, FMR's brother as the new manager. Dream Team is Gooners biggest rival in the RMI and @peace's appointment was a very interesting one, especially for the press and as FMR entered an over filled press room he was stunned by the hungry mob trying to get an exclusive.

When he had recovered from the camera flashes and managed to make his way to his seat to speak, heres what he had to say:

Todays result was a very good one, i feel that some of the other teams may slip up here Bayern are not an easy team to visit, so getting three points against tough opposition early on can do us no harm. I felt we didn't play very well today and getting a result such as this on a bad day at the office is encouraging. The lads never gave up which is our philosophy here as you know. thankfully we have some great players who can change events in a blinking of an eye and today was Langs turn to grab the headlines. I'm also happy Henry got off the mark today but you always know hes never far away from scoring and today he had plenty of space and time to find the net.

We are still in the race after round two and looking no further than one round at a time currently, obviously the next game will be one of the most important fixtures and the pressure is on us to get a result at home. We are confident of playing at our best and the lads are in very good shape. It's always a big fixture and i guess even more so now with recent events! If we want the title we will need to go one better than Bullies and beat a side that are re-energized with the signing of a new manager.

As for the appointment it came as no suprisee to me and @peace took the job partly on my advice, this is a fantastic league and Dream Team are a great team with alot of young talents. It will make things even fiercer on match days but i think the clubs may now have closer relations and we have already talked about loaning players etc. I think he will do a great job and rumour has it he has been busy in the market already, obviously it's going to make my life alot harder as Dream Team may be a giant that has just been woken. Tomorrows game is not the be all and all though it's a very long and sometimes cruel season and will be decided many games from now.
