Rumour has it that Villarreal CF may have trouble hanging on to their players and possibly even their place in division 1.
Villarreal CF, currently dead last in division 1 have been in some serious trouble over the recent weeks as wages have not been payed and a number of sub-clauses in the top 3 divisions of the RMI paragraphs clearly state that a team must be able to provide a positive bank balance before the mid-season or face immediate relegation.
Coach Brennan not only faces problems in keeping his suit pressed for next weeks court appearance over a trucking incident but may also need to empty the petty cash jar for even the slightest of expenses.
One month ago, despite this fact and the appalling results of late, Brennan agreed to tie himself down on the sinking ship for at least another year, quite possibly signing a contract written and prepared by himself.
Villarreal star players such as Andy Hardy and Claudio Moura have issued a support of sorts for their manager in that they were the only ones not to sign the "our boss is a disaster" handkerchief that was leaked to the press from nearby pub outside Estadio El Madrigal.
But voices have been raised within as well as outside the club whether players will be content in playing in such a disastrous club without even being able to feed their children.
Alas, the already criticized youth academy system could also be in jeopardy as it is dependent on established Villarreal players reproducing which the last few months have been at an alarming rate. Possibly to keep warm as the heating bills have not been paid since mid-September.
Villarreal take on division 1 third place holders FC Greatness this afternoon and if the pools are any vote of confidence, it does not look good for troubled Brennan.
