Totaalvoetbal endured mixed emotions after a difficult week at Metelo Park.
A 3-0 defeat at ThunderCats would have been bad enough in itself but an injury to Ike Dyer made it infinitely worse as Totaal started their week poorly on Tuesday evening.
ThunderCats were totally dominant to leave Totaal battered and bruised. The injury to Dyer leaves him sidelined for just short of two weeks and with Shivan Preetnav struggling for form the visitors would struggle to make an impact in the game.
Late goals from Carlos Magro, Alirio Ramalhao and Paulino Ornelas capped a deserved win for ThunderCats and left Meeblind looking for answers ahead of his home match against Manchester United.
Totaalvoetbal would recover well, though, and dispose of United with a minimum of fuss. The forward partnership of William Ralph Dean and Pierre van Diemen laid the foundations as they terrorised the visiting defence.
Dean netted first from the spot before being set-up by van Diemen for the second on 17 minutes. van Diemen got the goal he deserved at the start of the second-half to leave the club tucked in behind the big two as the season approaches the halfway mark.
Meeblind was still a troubled man in the press conference:
“We are struggling for money at the moment,” he opened.
“We haven’t got all the players in training we need, I’m lacking the funds for the preparation I like to undertake and our squad isn’t large enough to offload anyone. It’s a difficult time in a crucial part of the season.”
