Kirkbride Strollers claimed thieir first away win of the season with a 2-0 win at Underdogz Utd. Billy Maneater and Mark Blacklock grabbed the goals in a match which was marred by the injury to Underdogz midfielder Luis Carlos Almeida after a brutal elbow thrown by The Strollers record signing Andrew Harrison.
Harrison deservedly saw red and will miss the next match against Sanity Clause and jazza1958 was in no mood to defend his player. " The challenge was totally unacceptable to this club and Harrison will be severely fined and warned about his future conduct."
The match it's self was a pretty one sided affair with Kirkbride keeper Ted Hill making fairly routine stops from a number of long range free kicks and goals either side of half time meant that the points went back to the Bush. This result keeps Strollers in 8th place and giver them a breating space over the teams below them.
Jazza said " We played very well as a team today and deservedly won this tough match. I played three at the back today and we were very solid, our 5 man midfield were able to boss the game, though we only claimed 48% of the possession. This result will send out a message to the other managers in the league that we are not here just to make up the numbers and that we are looking to finish as high as possible. Our next match is against bottom club Sanity Clause and we know that we can't take anything for granted, there are no easy games in this league. We will be giving it 100% and will have to do it without Harrison though there are players in good form waiting to take his place. "
