Meeblind to stay at Metelo Park

Totaalvoetbal picked up six valuable points in their double-header against Hun Haters over the past week.

A 5-0 home victory was followed by a 3-0 away success which moved the Dutch giants into second spot in the table.

William Ralph Dean set them on their way in the home match and further goals from Rodney Shuttlewood, Pierre van Diemen (2) and Edwin Hayter completed the win.

The return match was closer but Totaal won out thanks to van Diemen, Bryan Robson and Shuttlewood goals.

However, the wins haven’t been enough to quell mounting speculation at Metelo Park that Robin Meeblind might be looking for a new challenge.

The manager himself, though, was keen to distance himself from such talk:

“Well, I was interested in taking up a coaching position at Underdogz United but Izu never contacted me; instead he preferred to talk to my coaching staff here at Totaal.

“I think with our combined knowledge we could have turned United into one of the top dogs of the division if you’ll pardon the pun.

“However, it was a non-starter and I concentrated on getting six points against Hun.

“Now, following Meelas’ announcement, we have much speculation regarding the ThunderCats job.

“They are a massive club, one of the best in the league. However, I don’t think it would be right for me to take on that challenge. What could ThunderCats offer me that Totaalvoetbal can’t?

“So, I’m here to stay and won’t be happy until I can challenge West Brom on a more regular basis.”
