Dream Team returned to form with a 5-0 thumping over previous leaders wortley afc at Stadium of Dreams. An early chance saw Ronaldo Ready have a lob saved by Perry Gareth while the ‘keeper also had to hold from a speculative Rufey Rowdy bicycle kick. Dream Team continued to press and saw Adam Aspire chip over the bar before Garry Gain finally gave them the lead with an accurate lob. Ready hit a post as he tried to poke the ball through the ‘keeper’s legs while wortley’s first chance ended as Brandon Hiller hit wide from distance. It would soon be 2-0 as Mil Moody hit an excellent volley and when Ready powered in a header on 24 minutes it was 3-0 and looking like a massive task for wortley. Hiller did try to pull a goal back with a header but couldn’t find the required accuracy and they would go in three adrift. Moody demanded a save by Gareth before Hill was denied by Delirious at the other end as the second-half opened in attacking fashion. Dan Clooney sealed his side’s fate by deflecting the ball into his own goal and an Aspire header made it 5-0 on 71 minutes. MrJames was delighted with the result and claimed to have ‘established myself as the number one in division three again with that result.’ Thegreatlordbags will be looking for his side to bounce back after their first defeat and they have an excellent chance with a trip to Norfolk on Tuesday.
Rolling Thunder put in another excellent display with a 2-0 home victory over EspAda. Thunder put in a terrific first-half but couldn’t make any of their chances count. Bojan Krkic headed wide while John Obi Mikel had his header saved by Kerrigan as they pressed for the opening goal. Francois Rouland couldn’t trouble Kerrigan with his diving header and the aerial assault continued with Krkic’s header also being held by the ‘keeper. The second-half proved a more even contest chance-wise but Thunder did find their cutting edge. Marcel Holub finally made a header count on 59 minutes before he added a second on 76 with a thumping header. EspAda had a couple of late chances but Frederik Smith’s shot was saved before he had a half-volley which narrowly missed the target. Jimmy declared himself ‘a happy manager at the moment’ following ‘another win and a clean sheet.’ Malteseexpert saw his side slip to defeat after three successive wins but will be hopeful of a swift return to form with a home game on Tuesday against Alsancak.
Gooners remain in strong form following a deserved 2-0 home success over FCR Cressex. Andres Iniesta put a diving header wide in the second minute before a volley by Harold Hankers hit the woodwork as the home side started in positive fashion. Cressex did create an opportunity but Douglas Wallberg’s header wasn’t good enough to beat Raberg in goal. Gooners would have the final chance of the half with Iniesta hitting a free-kick narrowly wide. The home side created more chances after the break with Kyle Lang going close before Broderick Shilton lobbed a header over. Shilton would try his luck once more moments later but put his shot wide after beating Clooney. The ‘keeper would then save from a Hankers volley but the opening goal arrived moments later. Iniesta would be the scorer as he finished well following a classic counterattack. One would become two as Claudio Flecha got lucky as his mishit shot fooled Clooney to seal the game. FMRealism is keen to have ‘Baron playing again ASAP’ despite the win as fan fervour starts to grow around Gooners’ promotion hopes. Villan_RAS sees his side eight points off promotion pace and will recognise the need for a good run if they are to get back into the race.
Alsancak ensured Joshy85’s first game in charge of Mighty Mojos ended in defeat as they edged home by the odd goal in three at Mosquito Alley. Mojos responded to their new manager with an early Lenny Puttock shot which flew over. Alsancak would also look dangerous and saw Gabriel Baldwin go close from a free-kick before he would tee up an Eoghan Millar header for the opening goal on nine minutes. John Burston’s powerful low shot smashed a post for Alsancak before Terrance Norman lobbed over at the other end. Jayden Stevens would then equalise for Joshy’s side with a brilliant diving header which left Cirkovic with no chance in goal. Boosted by this they tried to hit the front but the ‘keeper was equal to a Ferdinand Quinn free-kick. Alsancak would not be without chances themselves and Mark Noble put a header wide before the break. The second-half would see Alsancak increase the pressure on the visitors. Baldwin forced Housham into a leg save from a free-kick but the hosts would hit the front as Rory Burston planted a header beyond the ‘keeper. Ronald Stoneman had a chance to level matters but missed the goal by inches while Fabrice Muamba put a header over at the other end. Noble would also lob over before Mojos suffered the disappointment of seeing Terrance Norman sent-off late on for brutal play. Joshy85 admitted that they ‘let it get away from (them)’ in the second-half but saw ‘plenty of good signs’ as he looks to build for the future. Wienersnitzel is keeping his side on the edge of the promotion race while developing his youngsters and everything remains positive at Mosquito Alley.
Morley Town remained in touch with the leaders by disposing of Norfolk 5-0 at Scatcherd Park. An early goal sent them on their way with Dustin Wotton heading home powerfully. Norfolk weren’t without chances and Dante Allegri nearly levelled with a header of his own. Wotton would lob over as Morley went back on the attack and a driving shot by Zacharias Ashe doubled the lead. Norfolk stayed resolute and saw Leopoldo Valadao hit a post with a header while Byron Greening forced Gaughan into a save from a looping header. However, it would be the home side who would be the more clinical in front of goal as Angres Kafka made it 3-0 with a stunning free-kick. Ashe looked like curling home number four but hit the angle although Wotton would add another with a clinical header. Valadao was denied at the other end as Norfolk finished the half 4-0 behind. The second-half had fewer chances but did see Wotton complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Morley had a further chance but Art Boyle’s powerful shot brought a save from Olausson. Norfolk’s misery was complete when Greening was sent-off for elbowing but Howemiester will continue undaunted with his youth team. Leeg21 has his side a point off the top spot and will look to keep up the pressure with three points from a trip to Cressex.
Jammas AllStars picked up a point in a 1-1 home draw with Glory Hornets although they might see this as a missed opportunity as they created the better chances in the contest. Keiran Corpe toe-poked too close to Blacksmith but the AllStars did take the lead with a clinical strike from the forward following a corner. A free-kick by Amadeo Larreina needed stopping by Blacksmith before the Hornets finally had some chances of their own. Lionel Monk’s powerful shot was held by Frezzolini before Raphael Dearden headed home the equalising goal on 70 minutes. Corpe tried to win it for the hosts but headed over and it might have been worse for them had Dearden’s goal not been disallowed for offside. Corpe continued his one man assault for the home side but his shot struck wood and they had to settle for a point. Jammas’ task gets tougher next up with a home match against the unbeaten Gooners while the inactive GregPerkins might hope for victory against Thunder.
