Gooners are still unbeaten in Division Three following their latest triumph; a 3-0 home victory over Rolling Thunder. The win was founded on an impressive first-half which saw them create numerous chances to leave Thunder overrun. Kyle Lang hit a post early on with a mishit shot while Jim Hotte had a header saved by McArraway. Sonny Baron was the next to try his luck and saw his header come back off the angle before he put another header more tamely at the ‘keeper. Lang would miss with another headed chance before the hosts finally took the lead; Otto Finnan flying through the air to put a diving header beyond McArraway. Thunder had a chance of their own on the half-hour but Danilo Bauza’s free-kick hit the woodwork and they remained behind. Indeed, they would find themselves two behind moments later as Andres Iniesta placed a header in at the far corner. Lang would see the ‘keeper tap another of his headers over and a 2-0 lead would be all the home side had to show for a half of domination. The second-half was much more subdued but the home side would manage to add another goal to their lead. Hotte would be the goal scorer as, once again, Thunder were found wanting in the air for the midfielder to ghost in and head home. Thunder’s evening got worse as Bauza was sent-off for dangerous play and they saw a late chance go begging as Yiannis Koutsis head wide. FMRealism was delighted with the victory and challenged his side to ‘keep (this) work rate and focus up.’ Jimmy recently called this match ‘very tough to get any result’ from and so it proved but the manager will be working hard to turn their fortunes around soon.
Things have been all change at the rebranded 1863 Munich with Anderson19 taking over at the helm. The team would respond by taking a point in a resolute performance at Alsancak. The home side enjoyed the first chance but Fabrice Muamba’s powerful strike was gathered by Blacksmith. Mark Noble would then put a header over the bar before Rory Burston’s shot from a tight angle found Blacksmith well-placed. Munich created their first chance just before the half and they nearly took the lead with it as Alex McQuillan brushed a post with his header. The second-half opened with Noble striking the woodwork with a fine looping header but it would be the visitors who would open the scoring. Kit Edwards curled a powerful shot beyond Frost to send the away following into raptures and dreaming of a much-needed win. Alsancak would respond, though, with Gabriel Baldwin having a free-kick saved before Burston drove in a powerful strike to level matters. Eoghan Millar nearly pinched a winner late on but it wasn’t to be as both sides took a point away from an entertaining contest. Anderson admitted that the performance had been ‘very defensive’ and explained that they ‘need some new recruits’ as they look to move forward. Wienersnitzel continues to see his side churn out impressive results despite a youthful look to the side and they are a club most definitely on the up.
Wortley remain on course for their first ever promotion as they beat FCR Cressex 3-0 at the western. Wortley started well and saw Nigel Krippner force Clooney into an early save from a free-kick before the ‘keeper also gathered from a Rai Kike shot. Cressex responded with an effort by Augusto Ferrazzoli but it missed by some way and they would be behind minutes later as Krippner powered in the opening goal. Jake Shiver let fly with a powerful shot which went just wide and the second-half would follow the same pattern. Paulinho Santos quickly made it 2-0 by shooting through the legs of Clooney while Dan_Ake Rothflod put a free-kick over at the other end. Brandon Hiller put a header against a post for wortley before Jake Shiver had a volley saved as the pressure continued. It would be 3-0 on 77 minutes as Kike looped home a header and Quincy Bowey might have made it four with a more accurate shot a minute later. Krippner forced Clooney into a late leg save following a fine header but wortley had done more than enough to secure the three points. Thegreatlordbags has his side top of the pile and will want his side to remain focused and follow up this victory with one against the AllStars on Tuesday. Cressex have now lost three straight and things don’t get any easier as Dream Team come to town in their next match.
Morley Town are hot on the heels of wortley after they secured a 2-1 home success over Jammas AllStars. The AllStars would shock their hosts as Samson Moon side-footed in the opening goal on five minutes. Morley took some time to get going but saw Adolf Munzberg go close with a free-kick before they got a boost with the sending-off of Jayden Haskell because of dangerous play. Morley would then level before the break as Christopher Love struck home a powerful shot in the penalty area on 44 minutes. Zacharias Ashe lobbed an effort into the net just after the interval but had it disallowed for foul play in the build-up. It wouldn’t be long before they did take the lead, though, as Dustin Wotton chipped in a beauty on 58 minutes. Jammas would try and hit back but Moon’s free-kick missed by inches while Angres Kafka nearly made it 3-1 but saw his shot go just wide. In the end it wouldn’t matter as Leeg21’s side took home the points. The manager now takes his side to Thunder on Tuesday with Town News calling it ‘a tough game’ but one they ‘are capable of winning.’ Jamma’s side are currently giving up a big age and skill gap to their opponents but the manager will work hard to redress this over the coming seasons.
Dream Team are also well involved in the promotion battle following an entertaining 5-1 victory over Norfolk. Warren Wish put a diving header wide before he did open the scoring on six minutes with an opportunistic toe-poke in the area. Dante Allegri shot just wide as Norfolk responded and he would be unfortunate not to level matters with a curling shot which struck the woodwork. Adam Aspire then made it 2-0 by putting the finishing touch to a breakaway move before Dudley Dream missed a chance from a free-kick. Mil Moody powered a shot against the angle before Aspire steered a shot over as DT started to create chances at will. The third goal arrived on 32 minutes as Ronaldo Ready powered in a low shot from distance. Norfolk were putting in a spirited display, though, and saw Andy Howe have a header saved by Delirious. However, the finishing of the home side was proving a major difference and Garry Gain emphasised this once more with an excellent diving header to make it 4-0. Norfolk would get some reward for their part in the first-half with a goal before the break; Allegri slotting home coolly following a breakaway of some class from the visitors. The second-half saw fewer chances as the defences hit back. DT thought they had added another but Aspire had an effort ruled out while Dan Ruffer had a shot easily caught at the other end. Gain would have the final say with a clinical header in injury-time to cap a 5-1 victory for the hosts. MrJames will have expected no less than three points in this contest and will have similar expectations as his side continue their promotion push against Cressex on Tuesday. Norfolk’s display will have pleased Howemiester and further improvement will be on their agenda as the weeks pass.
Mighty Mojos and EspAda picked up a point apiece following a 1-1 draw in the divisions other game. Chances arrived at both ends in an enthralling game and Patric Torebring might have put the visitors ahead with an early shot which struck a post. The Mojos responded through Phillip Williams but his side-footed effort was saved by Kerrigan. Timotei Buta would fare better on 26 minutes as he curled home a brilliant effort to put the hosts ahead. A free-kick by Vedin Sinanovic went straight to Housham before Andreas Sommer did equalise with a fine shot following a corner. The Mojos started brightly after the break and Michel Montolio’s header needed tipping over by Kerrigan. Montolio would get his next header horribly wrong before Darius Mossley also put a header wide. EspAda then had a chance but Sinanovic couldn’t get enough accuracy into his effort while Montolio’s header at the other end went over. EspAda had a late chance to pinch the win but Frederik Smit’s header proved no trouble for Housham and the side’s shared the points. Joshy bemoaned his side’s disciplinary problems and joked that he thinks they ‘have a secret card collecting hobby.’ Malteseexpert still has his side competitive in the middle of the table but will be hoping for his side to push on in the coming weeks.
