Totaal Meet Triumph and Disaster

Totaalvoetbal had another inconsistent week as they followed up a strong home performance against The Vikings with a horror defeat at Santos.

On Tuesday, Totaal were buoyed by two early goals from William Ralph Dean as they overcame a strong visiting side.

However, today they came up against a scintillating home side who tore them apart in a 4-1 defeat.

Totaal coped well during a good first 45 minutes and went into the break with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Pierre van Diemen’s first goal of the season.

This wouldn’t last long, though, as the home side came out firing after the break to put four goals past Totaal. Asmar Golkas, Adriano Ribeiro, Robbie Mitchell and Marcelo Afonso all netted for Santos who put on their best display of the season to claim their fifth straight victory.

Robin Meeblind was disappointed with the defeat:

“We didn’t match-up today and have suffered with a few players losing some serious form,” he opened.

“However, you cannot take anything away from a superb Santos side who are being superbly led by Sean.

“Some of their individual performances were nothing short of brilliant and we can admit when we have been well-beaten.

“We’ll try and recover in time to welcome Stanley and Markham on Tuesday. We will be desperate for the three points.”
