Manchester United 2 - 2 The Vikings

Viking Land News

Third consecutive away draw.

The Vikings played their third consecutive away game and again came away with a point in a game where it was clear the ref had decided to be the star of the show!

The ref showed his desire to be the main man as early as 2 minutes in when he awarded Manchester a penalty. Cantona duly stepped up and scored from the spot with the Vikings players bemused as to what the penalty was given for. the ref seemed very whistle happy early on and gave Manchester a freekick on 7 that Ronaldo put over the bar. The Vikings seemed to be puzzled by the ref and could not string a decent move together until Tassiopoulos broke through the middle, controlled an excellent ball by Irwin and slotted the ball past Foster to level the game (30). The ref then awarded Manchester another freekick on 36 but this time Ronaldo's freekick was saved by Lees. Another Manchester freekick followed on 38 as the ref seemed to be intent on letting them have scoring chances. Once again though Ronaldo shot straight at Lees. Giggs then has a header saved on 43 as Manchester pushed hard. The Vikings managed one more chance before half time but Tassiopoulos headed over on 45. 1-1 half time

The Vikings came out intent on starting the second half better and Irwin headed over on 46 when well placed. The Vikings then got a penalty of their own on 48 and Tassiopoulos followed Cantona's lead by cooly tucking it away. giggs headed wide on 50 as the game ebbed and flowed. Disaster then struck the Vikings as Midfield maestro Tassiopoulos was stretched off with a serious looking injury on 62. To rub salt in the wounds referee Wanda Rinn the saw fit to award Manchester another penalty on 70 which again Cantona finished to level the game. Hargreaves then smacked a post for Manchester united on 91 and the 6 yes thats right SIX minutes into injury time Teves headed over with the ref playing the normal game at old trafford and letting the home team have as much injury time as they like!!! 2-2 at full time.

Eaglesrjh was finding it hard to bite his tongue after the game saying "Do the refs have it in for us this season??? We are not a dirty side and are in fact third in the fair play league for this season but still we have conceded a third, thats 33.3% of our goals this season from the penalty spot and a further 20% from direct freekicks. Thats over half our goals conceded from refereeing decisions! I'm happy enough with a point here but cant understand what the refs have against us this season!"
