Viking Land News
Vikings cruise past Pahang and still have a hope of promotion.
The Vikings easily beat Pahang United and with the Three Lions vs Legends of Arsenal game ending in a draw the Vikings move to 4th still 5 points behind 3rd.
The Vikings started well and Portway saw a header sail over the bar on 11 minutes. Midfielder Crouch then opened the scoring on 20 minutes, Portway flicked on the corner and Crouch got his head to the flick to score past Richert. Another midfielder scored the second goal on 33 minutes, Strachan crossed in and Gourmas was on hand to head home. 2-0 half time 58% possession and the Vikings taking 2 of their 3 chances. Pahang left chanceless!
The Vikings looked to take the game to Pahang in the second half and Portway curled a shot against the post on 61. The third didn't take long to come and on the 64th minute Crouch got his second of the game as he again rose well to gead ina Gourmas corner. The Vikings then got a freekick on 70 minutes but Almandis chose not to shoot and played the ball into the box and Leo Idle nodded home. Pahang finally got a chance on 78 minutes but Beniesh found young keeper Sampson equal to his freekick. Lindeman then headed over on 85 for Pahang but in truth they had never offered enough threat.
Vikings manager Eaglesrjh said "Well i'm delighted with a great win and can take so many positives from the game. A 2nd consecutive clean sheet for our latest young keeper, A much better goals to shot ratio 4 out of 6 I can handle! and we look to be only 1 more game without Tassiopoulos."
"I'm also quite pleased with some of the intelligence shown by the players, my instruction were to play through the middle but the players still vatied things enough and found gaps down the wings as shown by the fact all 4 goals were scored from headers."
"we are now 11 points away from the relegation zone and in fact we are now creeping on the promotion slots. We are still 5 points behind Legends of Arsenal and I still dont hold out much hope of catching them, but all we can do is keep winning games and if Arsenal slip up slightly then we will be there to take advantage."
"We have now also put forward Toursoundis up for sale, he is a good player but has found chances hard to come by in this team this year and space needs to be made in the squad for another promising youngster from the youth team"
